huh,i pointed out that fuel price wars happened in the 60's or so,that the fuel stations now are making way more than .3cents per gal like your buddy claimed.anyone that think a gas station is in business just to break even are complete morons.yea sure they have been in biz all these years only to break even.so now they need trucking geniuses to come up with paid parking to pull them out of debt.....now go thank your buddy again for being such a business porfessional...

i didnt say .08 cents profit

i said 8 cents profit using YOUR numbers of .04 cents per gallon and 200 gallons.

    200*.04 cents = 8 cents.

I had a bigger plan in mind and wanted to earn as much as possible in a short amount of time.

Maybe I'm smarter then some, I don't know. What I do know is I completed a 8 month lease, all the while making the same as a company driver, however when the lease was up and I turned the truck in I had enough in my maintenance acct. to get my own truck. I sacrificed alot and only went home 2 or 3 times in 8 months, but I got what I wanted.

Never once up here or in person did I claim to be anything other then a L/P driver when I was with National Carriers. I must of had some business smarts to be able manipulate the system to make it work for what I wanted. Do I think L/P deals are bad news, short term no, long term yes I do, they will eventually starve you out.

Nope never said that, however I have said I try to be as self reliant as I can, as do ALOT of drivers on the road today and what happens when they start losing profits from diminished sales?? They are gonna find someway to get it back.

I can't say if that's true or false, what I will look at is cleaning the lot, lines painted, trash collected, security, keep the lot lite up, and keep those "truck swallowing" pot holes filled in.

Correct, but once again we have so many drivers being self sufficent that they have no need to buy their overpriced items and on top of that you have drivers whose companies ONLY fuel at Pilot/Flying j or Loves and dont even buy fuel at the chain they stop at.

Look at the T/A in Laredo and Dallas, while yours may fill up faster I will still get my share of customers PLUS they will pay for parking, higher profits for me I win!! As far as being "greedy", oh well it's a business and I would be in it to make as much as possible!!

Ok so FREE Showers brings in money?? They actually lose money I bet on this part, with the hot water bill, paying a cleaning crew, washing and drying all those towels!! But wait, you will now say they use that to get in the door!! Which is true, somewhat, and this goes back to what I was saying!! With drivers stocking their trucks, eating out of their trucks, and not needing to spend money in the truckstop, where else can the truckstop turn to make up for that loss?? PAID PARKING!!

Now Now name calling isn't nice. But since it has gone that route, it's none of your business how long someones been driving, it's the internet and I can be whoever I wanna be!! I may not know much about you but, by reading your posts and seeing how you are so quick to resort to name calling and the sarcastic tones, if I was a betting man I'd say your the loud mouth moron who sits at the lunch counter who knows all and seen all, and as soon as you get back to the truck key up the CB, whispering something bout your panties, all the while sittin in your dirty underwear flinging boogers out the window with the curtains open:biggrin_2559:

    yes you did:
    Remedial math 101, 200*.04= $8 not 8cents (decimal placement is a must)

I never said .04 cents gallon profit,I have no clue how much they actually make, what I said was:
    Which was in response to:
I know Truckstops make money off selling fuel, if they didn't they wouldnt sell it.

Sorry losttrucker...but you are wrong to a point.

The true "profits" come from the "convenience store"...and they (chain truck stops) increased their profit margin, by opening up gas pumps and taking in the other side of the fuel purchase society. The 4 wheelers...who also pay the higher markups in the convenience store along with no parking.

Truck stops (chain outfits) actually only make $0.0364 per gallon profit. After figuring in all the overhead (if they have company delivery trucks), license and tax on the fuel, Haz Mat royalties, higher insurance for on property storage, liability for customers, and all the other overhead that we don't pay any attention to....profit on diesel fuel is fairly consistent every where you go. Now if they don't have enough of their own company trucks to bring the fuel, and have to contract the delivery out...that reduces the profit on the fuel due to the increased cost of transportation.
