"Hey. *nudges another driver* Check out the t*ts on that one over there."
How many drivers have done this? How many drivers have had people do this to them? How many forget this is broadcasting your orientation to people.
Yes, yes it is.moderndrifter, notezbngrn71 and Lokix Thank this. -
I've never really been one for tasteless comments but I know what you mean.
The thing I'm referring to is that you'll be working with someone and they just turn to you out of the blue one day and say something like....."You know I'm gay, Right?"
Like I even care or need to know for any reason...
It's like they just have to toss it out there to see what kind of reaction they get. Then, If they don't like the reaction they get it opens up the door for them to whine that you're a "homophobe" or something equally stupid that never would have come up had they not blurted out something that needn't have been said in the first place.
My reaction to that kind of thing is usually...So what?
It's not just gay people either, I worked with a guy once that was a "swinger" and one day he says something like "You know my wife and I are swingers" and I replied..."That's your problem!" He got a little butt hurt that I wasn't impressed or whatever he was expecting my reaction to be.
My outlook is...If you have some kind of personal thing like that going on, it's innapropriate to bring it up at work, If you do bring it up at work don't expect everybody to like it or accept it.
If you have even one living brain cell it should be telling you that it's NO ONES business but your own. -
I remember doing a ride along back in 2008 just before Obama came in to office. Not a day would pass where you wouldn't hear "I ain't giving my vote to a n*gger" on the cb radio. Now admittedly, being from all over the west coast, I've lived in some pretty tollerant places, so maybe I'm just naive, but it seems to me that if racism is still an issue in the industry, homophobia would also be ten fold. My advice is to just keep your sexual orientation to yourself. Although most truck drivers are pervs and wh#re mongers, swinging with the same sex and broadcasting it is more than likely going to get you thrown off of any straight males truck.

Personally two woman doesn't bother me at all. Seeing two men kissing and it turns my stomach. I wouldn't do things I done in high school. But I will be saying at the minimum to myself how that is sick. You can't hold that against older people because when we grew up where being gay wasn't right morally or religiously. That's just the way it is.
But in general, I'm like other posters. With 7 billion people out there, I'm not gonna let a few strange people I come across bother me.
Wargames, when they were talking about "check them t*ts out over there", they were pointing at you!Wargames Thanks this. -
