That really happens pretty frequently. They offer you a position to get you to attend orientation. ($50 a day for three days with 3 meals provided) Breakfast consists of a warm juice and a cold biscuit. Lunch is often a cold sub or pizza that has been sitting for hours. Dinner is usually at your discretion. You get a meal voucher to a certain restaurant for $7.99 which covers a standard entree without much left over for anything else. People get to orientation only to receive a piece of paper with a job description that doesn't match what you were originally told over the phone. They try to muscle and persuade you into an OTR position. There have been independent contractors in Louisville who have been waiting over 3 weeks for trucks. Southeast regional is usually good for about 1500 miles per week and OTR gets less than 2000 on average. Kinda dismal if you ask me.

I just got into the office this morning. A driver (who will remain nameless) calls me and says that he was told AT ORIENTATION that he'll be working Friday. They have him call our manager out in *Randomville* (where the position is) and he says all the positions are filled, so he calls me.
Nearly Immediately, I am pissed off at 8:03 AM CDT- Lowell, AR. So I march over to the manager and tell her what I was just told and she tells me that she's gonna talk to the Hiring Manager in East Brunswick, NJ. Also tells me that since he was approved for THAT POSITION, 1 of 2 things will happen.
1. He will get his truck and get driving for THAT POSITION
2. Manager in *randomville* or East Brunswick will be on unemployment by the end of the week
Note: Just for you Tip, I concealed the whereabouts of said position location so that you wouldn't jump to conclusions and force-feed me your crap about me recruiting people here. -
NONE of my relatives give out my cell phone. They call me direct and then I call and give the number. There are only about 15 people that have the number. -

I don't have to jump to conclusions when it comes to JobbyHunt. Me force-feed anything regarding JobHunt, Inc? Why would I have to do that? Based only on what I read here, those guys do that very well all on their own.
Next liar come and get some. -
I've been hearing this since the first day I showed up here. "JB pulls the old bait and switch routine". Yeah, it's a fact. JB is infested with liars.
But this fact is no surprise to those who frequent sites such as this one. -
For the written part, I'd go to the DMV and get a hard-copy of the manual.
The questions on the test are straight-forward, meaning if you study the manual, you'll be fine. When I took it about 12 years ago in Virginia, a lot of questions were fill-in-the-blank straight from the manual. The wording was exactly from the book.
It's an easy test if you study. They won't try to throw you with "trick" questions. -
Everyone i apologize for this guys remarks but yes it is true jb is hiring for other companies.Yes we all know jb has its downsides and even if noone beleives it jb does have alot of strong points as well ive been with em for a while but just like any co they have ups n downs.
-
Yes it is true, I do hire for other companies aside from JBHT.
And i find it a bit concerning when you reply with the tagline " A real buddy" I do believe I know who you are now... -
Nonsense. You don't hire anybody. You simply send people to orientations or refer candidates to certain companies to be pre-qualified. Your latest best friends may think they have jobs when they get off the phone with you, but no one gets hired until they are cleared by the gatekeepers at the individual companies. Some outfits pre-qualify drivers to ensure they're who they say they are, but you aren't the one who calls those shots.
Drivers may think they have jobs waiting on them when they head to orientations, but they have to understand recruiters only throw down the welcome mats.
Based on the number of folks who get rejected at a fine outfit like JobHunt, I'd say the recruiters aren't doing that great of a job making sure only qualified people go to orientations. I will refer to the threads here that are replete with posts from guys who've been shown the door during orientations at many a company. Some even had to find their own way home after being rejected.
