I'd like to thank everyone for their help with my rookie questions to this point. You've been most helpful!

Aside from the dangers of traffic, I was wondering if anyone had any stories or opinions on the safety of sleeping at a truck stop?

I have no problem saying "no thank you" to the lizards, but I am wondering if there is ever any danger from people trying to rob your cargo, your personal belongings, or both?

As a second part, what do you usually do if you do not have a truck stop or a rest area in your radius and get over fatigued/tired?

Thanks all. I hope you are having a very pleasant holiday!

When I was over the road, my .38 went everywhere I did.

You can listen to the people talking about their hammers and bear mace and crowbars but at the end of the day a gun is the best bet.

I still carry a gun everywhere I go except for my job. While I believe very strongly in the 2nd Amendment, I dont want to lose this job.

What your company doesnt know wont hurt them. You are going to be sleeping in that truck. It will be your home. You will sit in dark rest areas and truck stops for hours. You will go to shippers and receivers in the worst towns in the country. You will sit in shady unfamiliar areas. If you want to bring your Glock, keep it out of sight and dont tell a soul you have it.

"Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6''.

Alot of drivers carry, most just dont talk about it.

    Im also very anti union.

I didnt get a union job. I got a job at Overnite Transportation and UPS bought us and we went union. I voted against it there Mr Dave.
