They don't expect YOU to clean it........

They will pay somebody else to do it, I'm sure.

I am a clean freak, I won't even wear my shoes or boots in the sleeper, there is a carpet and it is kept clean, I make my bed almost every day. I also do not smoke. So when I was done driving the last Pete, The Owner of the company gave my truck to his Brother. He even said that I was the cleanest driver he ever met.

They need to if I am to drive this thing around. Im not touching body fluids of some other person. Brad (DBL) said it was supposed to be good to go with a "few personal belongings" left in the truck. Urine is WAY too personal for me!

Did you have a manual in the car you rented to drive up there?

As far as the condition of the truck, you are right to refuse to take it. You should never have to open a door to that again. If you drive for a company it should be their responsibility to make sure the interior of the truck is in the shape that they want it returned to them in. If the previous driver does not return the truck in this condition then he should be charged the cost of a complete cleaning and detailing including the cost of replacement materials such as seats or mattresses that may be needed. And you should never have to bear the burden of being responsible for another drivers belongings. That is a dispute waiting to happen if he decides he wants a new something.

And to those that say just clean it and go with it, it's the thought process like this that allows these companies to think they can hand out poorly maintained equipment to drivers. If they won't assign an acceptable piece of equipment then it is a reason to quit or not even start with a company. There are a million trucks out there and a lot need drivers. There is no reason you should be expected to drive in someone else's filth.

I would inform your employer that you are a truckdriver not a truck cleaner. Also that you were hired to drive, not clean up some other drivers mess. Back before the economy tanked and this industry became flooded with students desperate for an income, no matter how meager, truckdrivers actually got a small amount of respect. Most trucking companies had full time detail crew to deal with trucks that needed to be cleaned before being assigned to a driver. I guess that's a thing of the past. But until drivers stamd up for themselves they will continue to demand more and more from drivers.

    # 1 The "driver business leader" should have been informed about the condition of the truck

    # 2 Why in the "heck" should you have to drive 700 miles to pick up a truck...like they do not have trucks availible?????

    # 3 If you wanted to drive a manual trans...shoudn't your "driver business leader" (that title kills me by the way:biggrin_25517:) know this from the start????

I thought "Schneider" was such a great place.....ahemmmmmmm

    All the best to ya....!!!!:biggrin_25525:

I'll never understand people. I dip snuff. You'll never find a spit cup or bottle left in my truck. When I'm done for the day the bottle or cup I was using that day is in the trash. The only thing you might find is an empty Copehagen can hanging around. I smoked in a truck for 3 years and my boss never knew it. I always had the windows down and never smoked in the sleeper. I'll admit these are both nasty habits. I quit smoking but I still enjoy a good dip of snuff. I see the inside of some peoples trucks and just imagine what their house must look like.

here is the deal...Im not blaming Schneider for this. My DBL isn't at work and I will inform him tomorrow. Im only complaining about the condition of the DRIVER of this truck and how he left it. This happens a LOT in ALL companies. Drivers leave or get fired and dont clean up after themselves.

If you want to use this post for a reason to bash Schneider, please go elsewhere. This isn't a Schneider thing. It is a nasty driver thing. My DBL will take care of the whole issue.
