Hello, I have been looking around this site for a couple of weeks and trying to find the right company for me and my situation. I have looked at some of teh bigger companies but it seems that people bad mouth them. Would anyone recommend smaller companies near me in South Jersey?

I am a former Accountant and had to get out of that before I stuck in it the rest of my life. I want to get in trucking because I like being alone and not in an office with pretentious people the rest of my life and I also like driving. I want to make sure I have a job after I graduate school (Smith and Solomon) before I shell out $4000.

I was unemployed for 2 years recently and want a company that won't disqualify me for that. I have had one accident in the last 10 years and no points on my license. Since I like to be alone, what company has the least amount of partner training hours?

I still live at home and do not have any financial obligations so a company that does not pay well won't bother me. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Go apply to one of the many LTL companies out there. Get a job on the dock.

Get your CDL on your own. Many companies will let you go out in the yard and grind their gears on your own time for free.

Get your CDL, keep bugging them until they make you a driver, and then enjoy making good money and going home every night.

As far as the least amount of hours with a trainer, I would say Roehl. It's 13 days. I checked out ALL the big companies. However, Prime is near you in Scranton. BUT, they have one of the longest training periods.... and they're not small. Good luck!

Here's another one not bothered by low pay . The thousands like that out there are why OTR will always pay poverty level wages and BFI's will keep going to private fleets and convince them to put their safe , experienced , well paid drivers on the street and have their trailers pulled on a dedicated account .
The big problem is these people soon decide the low pay DOES bother them and they leave to be temporarily replaced by someone else thinking the same way .

You should try Lacys express there in south jersey they hired me when I first got my license I had no experience. They are located in pedricktown nj off exit 7 on 295.

Lacys is a tanker company that hauls hazardous liquid cargo waste. They may be a good start or try S&J in woodstown on rt40 they do the same thing. There are way worse companies than these 2 to work 4. But they don't have the same mentality as the large bottom feeders. And you can make a pretty decent living with those 2 so try them out.

That's o.k. . You're on my watch list . Let's see how your career goes . :biggrin_2559: . My list is pretty short . Most on it disappear within a few weeks . BTW , what does
mean ? I don't think any of us are homeless . Most of us are in mortgaged homes or a rented apartment which means we are grown up and have financial obligations . To some "at home " apparently means they haven't been weaned yet .
