The FCC will never do that because other drivers have the "It's my CB so I can talk as much as I want on it" mentality. Yeah it's your CB, but it's not your bandwidth. That's the main reason why base stations shut down channels, because that's the only way the FCC can enforce their regulations. Abuse a privilege and the privilege gets removed.

What you noted coincides with what I origionally stated. If you pull over and look at a atlas, you get rid of the need to rely on a CB.

Also, it's hard to know if the directions are good or not if you aren't familiar with the area. A soccer mom in a minivan can give you directions on a CB, but she isn't going to take the size and weight of your truck into account.

Also, the OP's complaint was drivers blabbering on the CB and not base stations shutting down a channel IIRC. Maybe I need to reread the OP, but that's what I got from it.

Pulling over after I'm already in a backup does me no good, I have to have heard about the backup beforehand and get off before I get in the backup, which is where the CB comes in.

Yep, re-read it, it's about high-powered bases and four-wheelers in the DC area.

    THBatMan8 Thanks this.

This is true. I tune to a local radio station before I hit a metropolitan area. The radio station is bound to give out traffic updates sooner or later.

Every state also has a AM advisory channel you can tune that'll give updates. You'll see the blue advisory signs throughout a highway that'll tell you which channel to tune to during a advisory. It's the same channel througout the state. The advisory station also gives out Amber alerts, so I tend to think it's more useful than a CB, but that's just me.

If he was worried about being found then he shouldn't have posted his van, with the plate readable even, on the net. Smart move there.

That picture was taken at a Key Down event or some other CB related event...I'm not sure who took the picture, or where on the Net Mr. Information found it...Doesn't mean Coolbreeze posted the pic anywhere.

But posting it in a thread and then basically trying to start some kind of lynch mob type thread is a bit out of line IMO....

If those guys are acting like that then they've earned everything that comes their way. Don't even matter who posted it. It was taken in a public place and posted in a public place. If those guys aren't out breaking the law and acting like a bunch of idiots then they've got nothing to worry about. If they are and the law don't care, well, somebody will take care of them eventually. That's inevitable no matter the situation.

If they go and do something to Mr Info, and your post sounded like a threat that that's what was going to happen, then they'll pay the price for it.
