I will go toe to toe with you..... And will call you out....
First I am not a shop owner... just a dxer
That's a 1 transistor then 2 transistor then 8 transistor then 32 transistor....
We do not know how to install, how to use power? I dare you to set up a mobile unit using this kind of power.....
O we have no electronic knowledge.... Well thanks to a ham that put out a meter... No names mentions... but the lpc5 coupler is not capable of handling 10 kw as claimed... How come... Surface mounts lose value when heat is applied....
My fault for not opening this before killing my final amp... but you can see how cheesy this thing is
At this point I was checking my d/k to see how it compared to my old reliable bird which it did.... until after a little talk time... then coupler gave reflect to my amps
No need to mention what kind of meter this is huh,,,, designed and made my who? Lets not even go there......
Looky what I was having to do after the meter killed the set up
Basically had to retune the amp because of that costly mistake. Guess my capacitance meter is to advanced for us lowly cber's.
O and on top of all this being in a mobile unit... One more thing to deal with stray rf getting into a audio mixer... That's right I am running a heil pr40 microphone and also a audio technica AT2010 (Which ever I feel like talking on when I do talk) into a behringer 1204usb into a cobra 148 gtl....
Now please note. This was when I first hooked up the rack gear into the truck.... done have got the bass, mids and highs adjusted out now.... Listen on a pc with subwoofers.....

Guess not so bad for a lowly cber....... O btw it was hams with attitudes like yours is the very reason I let my callsign expire.... Not so shabby from a NOCODER....
Why do truckers use linear amplilfiers with their CB radios?

GASP .......
1 st that's one hell of a amp ....... I was working MOONBOUNCE with 700 watts and 4 17 elm antennas .... I can't even think what kind of signal 5 - 10 kw would produce ....
Another gripe I have is the NO-CODDER what does code have to do with how good a ham you are
Sadly you came up aganst a FIST member or some one that stupid ....
they bug me too and I have seen people like you forget ham radio after a run in with them .... very sad ... at one point some FIST member posted crap abut me and that I ran illegaly on CB I made it plain my lawyer would soon file the papers and he was quite after that ......
With time you might try ham radio again .....
I for one never turn down anyone wanting to talk to me ...

Personal here is Bill (See I have not forgotten my short stay in amateur radio)
If I was to get back into ham.... It would definitely be on 75/80 meters AM only though.... (never cared for SSB) Some of those guys definitely has it going on with the audio.....
BTW my preferences are in order Johnson, Collins, Halicrafter... -
Bill ......
I work weak signal FM/SSB on 2 meters and a bit of 6 meters when I have the time
Over the years I have had a pile of radios but have settled on a Kenwood TS -2000 and some smaller radios for what I like to do ....
Here are some of the radios I have had over the last 45 years ....Attached Files:

I only use my amplifier when I can't quite reach out. If I hear others on the channel, I don't bother. I never try to walk on anyone else. I've only used it when I was just far enough away that myself and the other driver would bump our amps on the lowest setting... just enough to reach each other.
I have mine plugged in, but I keep it off until I need it and even then, I use it as sparingly as possible. It's a tool, not a toy.hellomcflywakeup Thanks this. -
Everything is bigger in Texas....and we like to be heard...
And if someone gets their lips cut off...that is their problem...hellomcflywakeup Thanks this. -
Truck drivers like running amps because we all have RF poisoning.

I see no point in having all that crap. If I need to talk that far I have a phone.
