Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Heading to ND in a week!

I have sent off many applications but I don't think anyone will hire unless you're out there
-
hog, you movin crude yet ?? how is it there ??
-
That has been my experience too. I've called several places to follow up on an app and they just tell me to come by for an interview, they won't even schedule anything over the phone. I'm heading over on Tuesday so I'll definitely fill you all in on how it goes. I'll be the guinea pig here, lol.

Well I was contacted by a contractor for Columbus Water Hauling and barring a bad MVR report (which I don't have) I will start working tomorrow when I get there. Anyone have anything to say about them?
-
Don't know anything about ND water hauling, try to take a hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots, and a good set of gloves that you dont mind getting ruined. I prefer a lined glove with a neoprene or rubber outter that the water wont penetrate.

I'd make sure they at least do a drug test on your before they turn you loose. Sounds like they might be some of the fly by night guys just looking to make a buck off of you. You can train while your drug test is pending but you can't legally drive the truck. I would also make sure they have a DOT number. CSA 2010 has an affect of owners and DRIVERS now. You can't let a shady company wreck your clean record.
*Red flag to me was the statement "start work tomorrow". Training is one thing but if they make you drive on day 1, I'd walk away. Just my 2 cents. -
Sorry, by working I meant training first and I do have to do a drug test so I'm good there. I actually ended up going with someone else because the guy with Columbus wasn't picking up his phone. It's another small outfit but they provide housing in campers and the pay is better too. Seriously guys, there is NO excuse to not find work right now. I have very little experience but am still being contacted by companies since I actually showed up in town. You aren't going to get hired over the phone so don't even try it. Show up here and you will get a job, unless you have a bad driving record or something.
-
Did you called several companies before you showed up in town and did you contact them when you got there or what? Also do you mind saying how much you're starting out at, what job you're doing, hours per week and do you receive any benefits?
