It will be fine if he keeps his work space hosed down. I've done show bikes in a basement. And some crazy cars in a plain old 2 car garage. 4k, ild jump on that if I were you!

I think I'm going to go with Imron.

I was just qouted $6000 for a complete repaint of my 2003 Century from a place with a booth. Place without a booth quoted me $3500. I'm going for the one without the booth. I've seen some of his work and no way is it worth the extra money just to get painted in a booth.

I've done a bit of that as well. What concerns me is not the lack of a booth, like several of the other guys have said. It's the prep work. It's a lot of work to sand around all those rivets, the way it should be done. If its not, the paint will likely peel, and you'll spend far more making it right. The old addage is still true, you usually get what you pay for, and if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I'm sorry to he the doubter, its just concerning. Just be sure its well sanded (especially in all the little nooks and cracks). Not rough, but dull. And be sure he's using a quality urethane paint. Like someone before said, if its a little dusty, it can pobably be buffed out. Good luck brother.

As I stated previously, I've seen several trucks the lower cost guy painted and all but one have been happy with the results, and his problem was mainly the result of the insurance and not the quality of the work. A couple of the guys leased on with me had their trucks painted 3 or more years ago and they still look good. The higher quote was basically a "show quality" paint job and I'm not ready to spend that kind of money right now....maybe when I get that last pesky kid out of the house in a couple of years, lol.
