yeah, thats a pretty cool story about hanging in there and it paying off. I really think this oil field buisness is about hanging in there and finding the good and the bad and giving it a chance until youre convinced about what you can put up with and not and then make your determination from there.

theres still alot of stuff i dont care for here at nabors but i'm convinced its extremely difficult to find better without having to put up with other crap you dont like. For instance, ive always found people dont take care of buisness at the pace that i like, this is something ive realized is never really going to change. Ive always found that most people slow me down and i got to run around them or push to get things done. Not everyone is like this but most are and its hard for me to avoid it without it affecting my performance, so in turn, i just settle for the system in place and work with what i got and just keep trucking along. I could just push hard and have people not like me but i'm done with banging my head against a wall.

advancement is about performance and its hard to advance if youre facing alot of resistance, know what i mean? i'm fairly convinced at this point that i cant perform up to my true level here but it is what it is and i'll do my best without making too many waves or getting frustrated, it aint worth it, been there done that. I'll put in my work, keep my ears and eyes open and i'm sure an oppurtunity will present itself one of these days, either here at nabors or somewhere else.

    Paul,
I've read this thread over from the beginning, and I appreciate you sharing your experiences. I too will be looking to move down there after graduating from CDL school. Would you mind if I were to PM you some questions I have?

Fair enough. I figured you get enough as is it, and might be easier to catch your attention...moot point since I got it now:biggrin_25525: Questions I have:
    1. You mentioned early on how you traveled to the interview based on a phone call. Were you given a contact, or did you apply direct with Nabors?
    2. What are the most likely openings Nabors has for new drivers/no oilfield exp. etc, ie. sand, water, pumping?
    3. Do they have relocation/housing assistance, or travel allowances for commuting?

That's about all for now, if I think of anything else, I'll bug ya some more. Thanks for your time.:biggrin_25519:

the phone call was sort of a basic interview just to make sure my record was ok, i was pretty much guarenteed a job by the head of hr if my driving record and criminal was ok. i had one ticket in the past two years and i had a felony 25 years ago.....i was good to go so i drove down but i also drove down with the game plan of gettin me a job no matter what. Many places are hiring and i knew i could find something no matter what.

over here, its water hauling, i dont know what other nabors companies are doing in other areas or states or countries.

ive heard of moving bonuses after i was hired, i didnt get one but ive heard of them, you'd have to ask.

    ok, got to run.

by the way gisquid, whoknows and the marine, you guys are out of luck, i found some missing hours and some training time......but like i said, we'll make it official this thursday when i'll probably get sent a check for the last check.

    THIRSTY Thanks this.

Believe you me, I'm gonna do it, but before I jump I, wanna know what and where to look for, by the time I get there:biggrin_25525: I figure, if I have to go to areas away from where my folks live, I'll need to either rent a car or obtain lodging, and as such, I want to try and avoid going in blind, having to wing it and pay for such unnecessarily. I feel it's best to get everything pretty much lined up, then I can make better use of my resources till I get hired and a steady pay check coming in. 8)

So are they putting the missing hours you found on another check? I would think that payroll would be tracking hours like a bloodhound?

well its not official just yet but i got 3 hours of training missing (3 bucks, yippee) and 3 hours of ot, if that doesnt add up to 13 bucks, i'll give you a thousand, uhhhhh i take that back lol.

yes, its very common here but they always find their mistakes and pay up, if you saw what payroll looked like, you'd understand. so much room for human error, its incredible that they do as good a job as they do.

by the way, "the hornet" is going to carry on this blog since he is starting soon and motivated, i'll pass the torch to him. Just wait till he looks at payroll lol. Should be a cool blog, i'll make sure he updates regularly. Maybe we'll call it "the hornet is the new stone cold rookie and gonna work the texas oil fields".
