A bit concerned! Asked to dock another driver's trailer

Kudos to swift. Sweet revenge for every lumper fee paid for wal mart to unload their own #### loads. Retribution for every empty trailer I have picked up full of packing material, splintered pallets, and leftovers from some lumpers lunch. For being kicked out with 5 mins left of your 14 because it is against company policy to let a driver take a mandatory break on company property.

Yeah, I'd tell wal mart to go f*** themselves too.

 

Hey I take offense to that not really but yes I ran local day cab for 11 years now I'm otr and am having to re learn how to do blindside without my Chester window but I still look for the easiest way onto the dock even if means breaking a law or three

 

Was supposed to say cheater window not sure what a Chester window is but I could say it might be when u use it to stare down some hottie in the car behind u

So the other day Im at the truck stop, and BlackW900 is there trying to back into a parking spot. He tries and tries, and no matter how many times he pulls up, he cant seem to get in the spot. I walk over and offer to help him, but he wants me to back it in for him. So I hop in his big plastic Freightliner, and back it into a spot.

He was very grateful for this, and I said I was glad to help. He offered me a $20 bill, but I said "No thanks, $10 will do....I only charge $20 if theres a trailer attached."

And then I made this face

 

I watched a werner driver use 3 pull ups to park a bobtail at a ts once, no joke.

 

Had a guy at owens corning in kearny, nj do that. Want me to back his truck into the dock. Kinda tight just cause you need to make sure you leave room for the flatbeds to get by in front but doable. I helped him. Got him back to about five feet away, made him stop. "Why" he said. "Come to the back of the trailer". He walks back, im almost in there he said. I know, OPEN YOUR DOORS!

 

I admit to having been guilty of the rookie mistake of forgetting to open my doors before backing into a dock

 

Im sure it happens a good deal. He was just nervous and worked up about the back and holding up the flatbed line he forgot. But i didnt want him to hit the dock then realize he had to pull back up.

 

How about this one.....One time I did a drop and hook at a place, backed into the dock, forgot to open the swing doors, took the other trailer and left. I did it late at night and the place was gonna start loading the empty I left very early in the morning but couldnt because the doors were closed. They had a Fedex Freight driver pull it out and open the doors.

To be fair to me though, only about 10% of our trailers are swing doors, most are roll ups....But man I felt stupid.

 

I watched a rookie one day at a customer spend 30 minutes backing into a simple dock. He keep going into a jack knife some how. Jack this way, that way. He was beyond even helping. He finally hit the dock enough to get the jack plate in, but was still sitting crooked.

I could imagine him in a tight spot. You just don't go through school and road training and still be that bad. He slipped through the cracks some how. I highly doubt he's still driving.

Alot of these drivers are the ones you see parked where they should'nt be because reverse don't work on their trucks.
