Elroy all the outfits either put you in the sleeper or in a hotel when you are on the road.on shop days you will have to get your own place. Plan on renting an apartment and maybe time sharing it with a couple guys. My outfit never uses the sleeper s,hotels every night. They rent an apartment that the out of towners can use when they are not on the road.small company, great boss, decent pay, easy work. Check out Canadian Nitrogen Services. I just got back to home after my first training rotation with Sanjel. I left home on the 10th and arrived in Edson, checked into the Nova Suites that they had booked for me for 5 days. Did WHMIS, several lease orientations, got everything for my rig bag (ppe, hard hat, glasses, coveralls, etc) a 200.00 boot voucher for Marks and paperwork. Once that was all done I was sent to Calgary for the 15th - the 25th (would have been 3 extra days, but I already had 2 of the tickets - H2S and CPR-C - they paid me .46c/km (1100km round + meals) for my trip to Calgary in my own truck - Once I got there I checked into the Glenmore Inn, got my meal vouchers (everything paid for by Sanjel) and on the 16th was in my first class. Safety Safety Safety seems to be the company mantra, the training was a cross between top notch and death by power point, the first week (until saturday) was mostly tickets and orientation, hr / OHSA and others. the 2nd week we split up between Global (firefighting, Confined Spaces, etc) Fleet Safety (skid control, driver evaluation, emergency braking (all done on course in company trucks) and Pro Park which is Sanjels headquarters / fabrication facility. - I have a mitt full of tickets now, am on my days off until the 31st then I'm heading back to Edson for 4 days, then 5 days in Red Deer for class 1 evaluation. Once cleared there I'll be a bulk cementer. They're looking for 1000 guys - ours was the 2nd class (38 in it) of the year, the 3rd class started monday, and a class each consecutive monday with the conference rooms and hotel at the glenmore booked completely through until at least the end of september as they ramp up.
PM me if you're looking, especially if you have a class 1, I'll get your resume right where it needs to be and fast track you in.
So far they've been exemplary, salary, training bonus's, hotel and meals all paid, mileage paid.. etc. I'm setup now
17 of the guys in my class were only class 5's, they'll bring you in and get you your q (airbrakes) endorsement in the first week, then get you your class 1, if you leave before the first year is up you're on the hook for 3k, but thats a lot less than I paid.
The yard we were looking at in calgary had just recieved 40 new western stars, all paid for, plastic on the seats and 3m stickers on the windows.. ready to roll.oilfield Thanks this. -
That's great Onetrack.

There's a coincidence, we both started training in the same western star then I was quickly moved to a kenworth. Now I'm working for a company running kenworths and you are with one using western stars. -
Sangels trauck are so busy that they bought 2 brand new service trucks from Camex to service their trucks right at the well sites because they don't have time to get back to their shops long enough for servicing.
