Thanks, I will pass it up.. BTW, I have been in Electronics for over 30 years... Many a time spend on O'scopes and Spectrum analyzers. Military never gets you what you need so you have to improvise.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Drivers,

If you decide to purchase a TND from another driver, please be aware that if you have any issues with the TND and call Rand Support their new policy is to ask for a receipt. If the driver you are buying from does not have the original receipt beware. There has been instances where TND(s) have been stolen from drivers and sold to an unsuspecting driver.

If your TND has been stolen please call Rand Support and let them know. They will log it into the system. Rand will not be able to recover the stolen TND, but at least they are aware of it.

    Thanks,
    Mark

i have had a few concerns with my tnd700 but i must say Mark has always tried to help. Many complain about no customer service, cant get any help and everything else under the sun. Everytime i have asked for help Mark replied quickly and told me what to do to correct my concern. Yes i have had problems but many drivers could have the issues corrected if they would just give Mark a chance. I think he is a great asset to Rm.:biggrin_25519:

Mark, any update on a TND Dock option that allows user to disable the dock at start up?

    On your computer -

XP/Vista - on the menu button (far left), look for run. Type in MSCONFIG. Go to the start up tab. Find TND Dock and uncheck. Apply/OK. You will be asked to reboot. You do not need too, also on your next boot up you will be asked a question. Just ignore it.

Win7 - on the menu button, type in the search box MSCONFIG. Go to the start up tab. Find TND Dock and uncheck. Apply/OK. You will be asked to reboot. You do not need too, also on your next boot up you will be asked a question. Just ignore it.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Mark, have you actually tried this yourself? I dont think you understand your own instructions. This isnt a fix, your sending users into a Windows diagnostic utility that puts their computer into a temporary diagnostic mode.

Yes I have. I have been around since DOS 1.0. This is simply a MS tool that many do not know about.

MSCONFIG allows you to control what loads during the boot up. The startup tab will show you everything that loads. You can take the "auto" out of a lot of programs that feel they need to load at startup and reside in the startup icons on your computer screen on the lower right.

This simply takes the TND Dock out of the start up when your computer boots up.

The TND Dock loads automatically in your start up programs. There is nothing in the Dock for settings that will turn this off either during the install or after. MSCONFIG is safe and easy.

MSCONFIG allows you to take control of what you want to load during bootup and turn what you do not want off.

For example. VZ manager will load at bootup. I have a shortcut on the desktop and feel that this program does not need to reside in memory during non-use. I turn it off so it will not load during boot up of the computer.

Anything that loads during boot up takes memory.

    Thanks,
    Mark

In regards to the next "new" Dock it is in testing and I will be testing this weekend. As for this option in a setting or during install, I do not know at this point. MSCONFIG is an interm solution.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I am really not happy with Rand McNally. I bought the TND 500 through DieselBoss back in November 2010 because Rand Mcnally told me I had to go through a vendor. The Rand McNally rep told me before I bought it that I would get lifetime map upgrades whereas other companies would charge. Within the first few months, I told them that the maps in this machine was antique and have repeatedly told them this throughout 2011. They kept on putting me off, saying that they didn't have the map upgrades. Last Christmas, I notice they were selling the same machine for $100 cheaper than what I paid for it with free map upgrades. I called them again to get the free map upgrades the Rand McNally tech told me I would get. After my warrenty expires, all they want to do is tell me that it's $89.00 for map upgrades-it's like you bought an inferior product, now you are stuck with it! Needless to say, I got the runaround-I wait forever to get in touch with someone ( because their tech support is always backed up), then they tell me they will have a manager call me, & then they don't. They have REALLY bad cutomer service. No one in that company has any integrity whatsoever-I have tried to contact them through voicemails, emails, Tell Rand, even the BBB and they totally ignore me and do not want to speak to me!
Rand Mcnally might think they've got the Trucker GPS customer base locked up but they are dead wrong! I have stood at Pilots and Flying Js watching people return their GPS time and time again. People just aren't happy with the product. It would be wise for them to have better customer service for the guys who haven't returned their GPS. By the way, if you are having trouble finding anything on your TND, do like their tech support does and just google it. Why not save your money and don't buy one? Just google everything! What a joke!
