And just because you dont like it does not necessarily mean it's wrong or backwards. Lots of valid reasons given for people nosing in although in general I am not a fan of it. Maybe that idiot learned a lesson that day. Maybe you should have let him try for an hour before moving trucks for him. Why would you ask three trucks to move for him? Just because someone has been nosing in trucks for 48 years does not make it wrong, unless its the wrong place for it. I think you need to get off or your pedestal and calm down, it's gonna be ok.

Mr. Professional Rooster, sir, would you be so kind as to enlighten me on how many total miles you've driven? When you've breached the million mile mark, come see me with a list of all the trucks you've dinged up because you tried hitting a spot when you were exhausted.
Trust me son, you don't know exhaustion until you've ran over 1,000 miles without taking a break. I ain't saying doing that is a good idea, but I would be willing to bet the farm there's a lotta older hands (probably 90%+) know what I'm talking about.haulhand and Emulsified Thank this. -
The longer this thread continues, the more I'm rethinking that maybe my 99% exaggeration wasn't such an exaggeration. LOL This thread really has become quite comical. For those of you offering an explanation as to why you nose in, thank you for staying on topic! For those of you bashing other drivers for their input or opinions, you are probably a large part of why you hear many of us say things like, "trucking isn't what it used to be." You see, its perfectly OK for you to have an opinion different than mine or anyone else's WITHOUT bashing that person or acting like a child and name calling. Seriously, grow up! I respect your opinions even if i don't agree with them.

When loading or unloading, the business end of my ,and I suspect most people's rig,is the trailer doors. When parking, it is of less importance where the doors of my trailer is facing.
So I can't understand your comparing the two.
(2) No one,as far as I have read,has claimed it was "awesome" to nose in like a ######,to use your words.
A simple question was asked, and replies given.
(3)You are suggesting to people that if they park nose in to avoid certain things at the truck stop,then it might be better for them if they stayed away from the truck stop.
You might consider taking your own advice and stay out of the truck stops yourself,if someone nosing in causes you so much consternation. How hard is that?
but,on the other hand,
(4) If insulting people and calling them goober,because they park nose
in is the only way that you can feel good about yourself,then continue to park in the truck stops.(just refering to the last sentence of your first paragraph)
(5)Should the allied truck you refered to,be used to judge all who park nose in?
I am presently parked nose in,and whenever I do so,it is always at a spot where I won't have a problem backing out,and at a time when the truck stop is likely to not be crowded when I am ready to leave,e.g. late in the morning. I am 11 miles from the customer,and my appointment is 1200. There should be no need for me to try for an half an hour to get out.
(6) At end of 3rd paragraph, you said having mechanical problems was
the only time you see parking nose in as being a viable alternative.
What possible mechanical problem could a truck have that,in your mind ,would justify nose in parking, a practice to which you seem intensely opposed?
