I am torn between which company to work for and when to let the other companies know that I am not going with them.

I have start dates (orientation) scheduled:

KLLM Feb 13, 2102-think I have ruled this company out based on recent forum complaints from current and past drivers like Road Toad.

Watkins and Shepard-Feb 13th, some kind of physical test scheduled here at a doctor office near my home prior to orientation thurs. feb 9th..after that result I would be all set for W/S.

PGT-Feb 13th is target date will know by Tuesday Feb 7th...pretty excited about this company because I really want to run flat bed.

Falcon-Feb 13th...Jury is still out on this company, have not gotten much information about them, they have offered me an opportunity if flat bed..

I sure would appreciate information on these companies from any current or recent driver. I am still leaning towards W/S but torn by the chance to go to PGT..pretty much eliminated KLLM unless I get a bunch of reasons to go there.

thanks everyone, for posting advice instead of just looking at the post.

I realize a certain amount of BS where ever I go..that's just part of it.

I plan on having a hellofa lotta fun with this job! looking at this as another chapter in life, but want to make a somewhat educated decision first off..figure why not get it from the drivers instead of the recruiters. personally I have always trusted the guys out there doing the job every day more than those blowing smoke..LMAO

I say go with Watkins I think they got happy drivers and is a solid non nonsense company. As far as saying no to the rest just make a pohone call and say you already got a job no prob. Dont give any explanations just keep it simple.

Hamadown, seems like a career change is coming. Mind sharing why the change and what you are changing from?

Watkins sure hires a lot of newbies for a carrier with less than 1,000 trucks . We see members going there weekly . PGT seems a better choice . They seem to keep fairly busy .

If you want to pull a flat why tug around a big white box and waste your time? If I were you I would do what I wanted to do from the get go.

Do not notify the other companies until you are an employee of a company!

Yes indeed, it's a career change! I am a retired Sergeant from the Wayne County Sheriff Department in Detroit, Michigan...I am extermely happy to be done with that line of work and onto something that I have wanted to do for the last 25 years...Just got hitched young, had kids and really had very little choice but to stay with a job that I really didn't care for. It turned out to be an honorable career, like to think I did more good by helping folks as opposed to creating problems for people...leave it to the young kids, happy I am onto greener pastures.
