Hey revelation1911, not trying to be rude, but one of these days you are gonna be in for a big claim. Many steel loads can get a lot of clean rain on them. But salt, grease, oil etc is what they want it tarped for. And paying to have a load cleaned isn't cheap. Just a thought.

I just hauled 44,000 pounds of copper, it was sitting outside at the mine when I picked it up. When I dropped it, they set it outside too... Was kind of nevous about having it sitting there open on the trailer. Thankfully I didnt have to tarp it.

There are plenty of loads worth more than copper. I have a customer that regularly ships loads worth $500,000 to $1 million. I guess it is a little more difficult to fence a system for converting captured methane gas into electricity than a load of copper.

I would not want to tarp the copper we haul out of new mexico. That stuff would sure be hard on my high dollar tarps. Thank goodness for padding material. But then I do not want to tarp anything or actually want to haul anything lately. That must be why i just ran 1162 miles empty to come home. I am gonna hang out here for a couple weeks or a month, then I might feel like working some more

I hauled big slabs of copper out of Amarillo before, untarped, all the way to PA. You could just see the dollar signs in some passer-by's eyes. If I remember right, they were 3x15,000lb slabs.
