Many have recommended on here actually. I prefer it on here rather than attempting to talking to a random person. I tried it once and it was awkward. Not at a truck stop however.

Get fuel, shower and a place to park for the night- those are the only uses I have for a truckstop. I stay away from the lunch counters and tv rooms, and on the rare occasions I eat in a restuarant, I sit in the general public section- not the driver's as I don't want to listen to the bs stories or sit near some fat smelly slob in ratty sweatpants and a cut-off-sleeves shirt

to the O.P.- I think your best bet would be to go by a trucking school

Nyman, Red Hot Mess and Bill104 Thank this.

What I have seen recommended here in the forums regarding talking to drivers at a truckstop was to find drivers working for a particular company that one may be interested in working for so as to get their opinions and experiences with that particular company. I don't think I've read a post recommending asking random questions of random drivers.

i don't see the need to be rude to a new driver asking questions....we were all new once too.

like windsmith said- ask drivers of a company that looks interesting to you. I have a friend with May Trucking out of Salem OR and he is doing well there. I'm with Holland Enterprises out of Fargo ND but we don't hire new drivers

Two things you should do at a truck stop, one offer to pay for everyones meals cause were all to broke to. Two walk up to a tired driver, say ti him, hey you sissy mary you stink of bo can I wash your back in the shower. Should take care if all questions.
