I'd answer your question, but I'm not one of the men.

Sit in the diner and be real friendly to the drivers. Call them Good buddy, and wink a lot.

Well, looks like you guys have discouraged another young person from wanting to be a truck driver. Congratulations.

Dogknot, why don't you try this, and see if the tone of the answers are any different:

    • Go to a pilot's forum and ask, "I'm going to the airport, what question should I ask?"
    • On a Dr.'s forum: "I'm goung to the hospital..."
    • Pick a LEO forum: "I'm going to the police station..."

And then cuss those who finding humor in your ridiculously vague and context-free question, rather than realizing you screwed the pooch and had those responses coming.

The OP got off light, considering their response.

Well if he goes to the lunch counter he will be able to learn how to talk cops into ticketing themselves; get free food due to their looks and charm; make a company give them .10 cpm raise; how to make your finance company give you free payments on the truck; make your wife gravel at your feet; how to back up a 747 through a dog door; how to pass any piss/drug test; how to tell off any driver at any time; how to tell the DOT off; and of course you will learn how bad every company sucks. Oh and don't forget that you will learn how to call every waitress such things as babe, doll, cutie, sweety, honeypie and all other non-respectful things under the sun.

After you sit at the high counter and get some in depth knowledge about trucking, head out to the fuel island to learn how to wash you truck for free, spill some diesel on the ground, use the new and improved boot tip tire gauge (kick it and you know the PSI) you also will find out that the fuel island is a great front row parking area while you go shower, eat and waste time (no need to go park in the parking area!)

Then stroll on out to the parking area. Here you can learn to take up 2-3 spots at once, leave your trailer sticking out 10-15' when you nose in to a spot. Also make sure you either take off a mirror or at least make the driver next you is scared you will hit his truck. No need to walk to the trash can 20' away, just toss it out the window or behind your trailer. Once you have learned parking lot etiquette ask the driver to show you what to do once parked.

Climb in the cab after you piss on your tires, scratch you a@@ and fart. Sit in the cab and make sure you run those RPMs up as high as they go and set the cruise (work that old diesel out of the motor) and shut it off before letting the RPMs go down. Or leave it running cause what the hell, it ain't your fuel. Get on the CB and start searching out the lizards and talk some BS. Be sure to get estimates from all the lizards before you commit to one. After she gives you what you need and a few "extras" to take home with you, get back on the CB and talk some more BS.

Ask him about the bedtime routine. Once it is dark turn on all your interior lights and get 99% naked so everyone passing by can see the pay off of your hard work (in the gym). If you need to go potty, don't worry if they see you going in a bottle, just dump it out your door and splash it on the truck next to you. At last it is time for bed.

Now that you have learned how to be a trucker from the truckers at the truck stop. Jump on here and ask questions, do some research and don't go bugging drivers at a TS. They may get the wrong idea from you walking up to their truck. There is a wealth of knowledge on here.

Some of the things I overheard and seen while sitting in the "professional drivers" area and parked in the truck stop.

Hope yall at least get a laugh. If you disagree that drivers do these things... this is probably about you!!! Ha.:biggrin_2559:

Hammer, the advice is given here on a regular basis for kids who are interested in trucking to go to a truck stop and ask questions of drivers. So it doesn't strike me as strange that somebody would want a little more info about what questions to ask.

A few jokes are one thing, but this thread degenerated into a lot of piling on. If this is just a kid who wanted a little guidance about what specific questions to ask, I don't think he's going to feel like he "got off light."

I think the jist of the message in all the jokes is Dont go to the TS and ask questions. Just aks some on here and do some searching through the forum and get some answers.

I thought it was a driver asking the question, not a noob looking to get into this sport.

The OP came off as if asking "I'm going online, what should I post?"

Maybe start over with specific questions, you'll probably get better answers.

I've seen that advice given and frankly I think it is not a good idea. Best to ask questions in a forum like this. Too many weirdos at truck stops approaching drivers now. Most will assume this is just another.

If...during your question and answer time...you find the need to go to the pooper....

don't be tapping your foot while asking questions from behind the closed door!
