Perkins Specialized Transportation (don't ever think about leasing with any company)

Perkins Logistics & Specialized Transportation's practices are so bad they probably wont last long as for being sued I believe they have several if not more cases filed against them, Makes you wonder why some people are so greedy that they would operate like criminals. I know they are scamming drivers on a regular bases and their system is set up to scam drivers know matter what anyone say's they are crooks. They do not pay the drivers.

 

I'll donate an "AMEN!", not that it means much coming from me, but...the husband and I are lease ops, and we just got a check for $6500 this week. We have to pay for fuel out of that, but still...where else can you get into a business that does a quarter of a million bucks a year, with a minimal capital investment?

I wouldn't want to be a solo lease op. We tried that plan and didn't make much, but with a team pushing a truck 24 hours a day, you can make an obscene amount of money as lease ops, because your fixed costs are not redundant. You have to have some business sense and work hard. Establish a good reputation for your team, and they will give you the gravy freight.

As for the complaints that I hear about "the company refused to fix this and that", I've found that most company mechanics are not qualified to service wheelbarrows. We take the truck to a company shop for things like window glass and scheduled service, but it goes to the dealer for everything else. Maintenance is our responsibility, not the carrier's.

We lure our drivers in from all over America and make big promises then lease them a truck trough our several business who do business with themselves, we then do not pay our drivers so we can provide our customers with "Cheap Freight" a wonderful system for all our customers. You will not have to worry about liability from our drivers suing you for non payment, we will bankrupt them before they get the chance.

 

Let me know when the lawsuit goes to court. I'll bring my 1040s from the past 3 years and my testimony.
Of course, I'm still happily running for Perkins.

In case people are clueless, 2008-2009 were HUGE recession years!
Truckers across the board were affected.

 

Why don't I ever see this advertised in the little books at the truck stop?

I see people still are willing to work for nothing.
Many years ago Perkins was a great company. Two of my bothers were leased to them back in Perkins glory days. My neighbor and his bother pulled doubles from Huntingburg, Indiana to York, PA for years. Fact is people all over my area was leased to Perkins and they were very happy.

Then the old man retired and the boys too over.
One by one everybody left I said EVERYBODY!
Why
Cause they were whiners?
No
Because they couldn’t make any money!
Perkins doesn’t have it present lease Purchase program just because they like truck drivers. They have it because they need truck drivers. But what they get is riff raff no teeth hillbillies who are poorly educated. Who have the dream of owning a truck.
Being an old stick hauler I saw (or see) these Perkins guys every week. Poor suckers are starving while living in a truck. If it wasn’t for them having a wife that works they’d have lost their homes long ago.

Back in Huntingburg I have an old acquaintance whom I have know for over 40 years. His job besides running Huntingburg’s Shop, is running after all the abandon and repossessed trucks.
Last time I talked to him it was 5 trucks a WEEK!
Get it
5 TRUCKS A WEEK!
Why?
Most just ran out of money.
Many because they are not business minded (If they were they’d wouldn’t have to go slumming after a Lease Purchases deal)!
A Lease Purchase is just a Slum Lord’s way of suckering in people who have no business owning any kind of business because they are just Welfare Receipt wanting to drive a truck.

Let me say again.
Perkins has to go after 5 trucks a week!
Just go to Huntingburg’s yard.
All stripped down plan Jane beat-up trucks awaiting a new sucker.
Perkins buys so many trucks at a time that some trucks sit for 1 to 2 years before they can fill the seat with a sucker.

You’d never understand and Perkins feeds on your type.

I've been trucking since 2005. This October will make 4 years that I've been at Perkins. So assume whatever you want. But I believe in the motto that, "Actions speak louder than words."

And you would have to be insane to think that I'd would for free for 4 years.
