Don't worry about holding someone up--they will get held up a lot longer if you mess up!--If you really think you are going much to slow--and there is a lot of traffic behind you--do not be afraid to find a SAFE place to pull off and let traffic pass--there is no problem with that.
BTW--I have been doing this a very very long time-(not saying I am any better--just probably a little more comfortable with it)-and if you really want to go SLOW down a long grade--run up behind me when I am coming down at a safe and reasonable pace-(and yes I mean at at least the posted truck speed limit)-and TAILGATE me in another big truck--I show you just how long it can take to get down the hill!
Just my $.02

just take your time and you'll be fine. It's very beautiful out that way. Be safe and we'll see you out there.

But I will follow some of the other trucks leads. Been doing that with the little bit of snowy travel I have been able to experience. I figure a good percentage of the other truckers have at least more than me when it comes to winter driving and if they are going slow, I need to go slower.
I am leary of pulling over going down a hill for fear of a truck behind me clipping me or my slowing down causing him/her to heat up their brakes. Guess it will all come to me with time. For now I will just go as I feel comfortable and gain experience from that. -

Maybe I missed something--But who said I don't drive anymore?
Your profile says Ex-35 years
As for being leery of pulling over-I think I did say if you could safely--For example many of the chain up--or chain off pull offs in the Western Mountains leave you plenty of room away from the highway to allow others to pass--
Your comment about going as you feel comfortable--hits the nail right on the head--that's what i was trying to say--so imho--your doing fine[/QUOTE]
Thanks. Hopefully that will continue to be the case as soon as Cassie is back on the road. -
EX-35--guess I thought that meant experience-and I had been out here 35 years when I filled it out--but that was a couple of years ago-see what happens when you let grown kids like me play with these complicated machines! LOL--
Either way--I'm still riding around sitting on my hands trying to keep from waving at everybody--and good luck with your ride -

I've never been to the Northwest, or even past Denver in my short OTR stent. It's the one thing that really scares the crap outta me about trucking.

Go in the summer time.
