I was wondering if anybody had a shift sequence for a 15 speed, because the pattern was worn off of the truck I had to pick up today.

get with brickman...he has recent experiance with a reversed 15...so it should be very easy to explain
-
What year??????
Some time in the late 80s they changed it so if its later than that it should shift like a 10 spd. Most of the time you can ignore the bottom 5 as that is deep reduction used mainly for off road or where you need really slow gearing.
If its an old trans pattern it'll be like this...........
R 2 5
1 3 4 -
Thanks alot i'm not sure what year it is, i'll find out tomarrow when I drive it. Really apprciate it guys.
-
If it doesn't want to shift with the reverse 4 and 5 try shifting it like a regular ten spd and see if that works.
-
Range select front lever down low up is high
R 2 4
1 3 5
Upper Gears split with side lever
R 8/9 12/13
6/7 10/11 14/15 -
Thats unlike any 15 i've driven.
All the ones I've driven with the range lever in the down position the side bar will shift you from low range to deep reduction. -
I agree with Brickman. Any 15 i drove or saw was a 10 with deep reduction. Had to drive one today with the 4/5 reversed. BTW, I think the reversed pattern is called a RTX not a RTO. They are both overdrive trannies.

IIRC, Eaton never really gave the 15 speed an "RTX" name, but gave the buyer an option of either shift patter, both called RTO. I don't think the reverse pattern is available anymore, except maybe as a special order, the straight RT/RTX patters are far more popular. -
we still have a freightliner with a 15 in it and we shift ours just like powder joints explained
