Spec our trucks to run 55 mph and give us 51 Cetane Fuel compared to the 40 Cetane crap we use now, I am sure we could get in the 9 mpg range now with that weight and even in the 10 mpg range during the summer months.

Slower speed and higher fuel quality with 51 Cetane Diesel will make a huge difference in fuel economy, but you guys are also paying over $8 or $9 per gallon for diesel fuel too.

with 80000lbs this scania could get above 10mpg

with aero cab you will get another 0.5, with lower trailer at least 0.2 i dont know for tires but this together bring another mpg maybe even 1.5mpg

so i think with normal height truck and 80k in both direction it would be possible to get from 11-11.5mpg

    fuel here currently is 6.36$

premium fuel with 60cectane is 6.4$

60 Cetane Diesel Fuel and 55 mph we would definately be in that range with our trucks too. Our fuel is crap and most here are lead foots.

I would love to find some 60 Cetane Diesel here in the USA!!!!!

I would be glad if they would get our diesel fuel back up to 40 Cetane instead of this garbage we have to use lately.

The lead foot and lack aerodynamic thinking from the operators is what is killing the MPG.

    they are running on 51

they need high volume trailers because they load 3x box per height with normal trailer it would be possible only 2x thats why is higher

and lower tires , those tires are 915-925mm instead of 1070-1090

but i dont know why they use this cab.....

what kind of fuel you get now if you would like to have 40?

The best truck for m.p.g. is too hard to answer. I have a 95' intl coe. 11.1 det 365 h.p. with a super 10 over 1.4 mil miles & have always averaged 6.5 m.p.g. I beat most heavy large cars on m.p.g. even though I have to drop more gears on the hills & my cruising rpm's are 1700@ 67 m.p.h. variables on m.p.g. are all over the place. head wind drops my m.p.g. far more than anything else.

Most of MVT if not all of them are single drive axle tractors so I think it also helps with MPG.

Single drive improves the MPG with 2-4%.

    more

scania make test: comparable 6x2 with twin tires vs 6x4 get 12.5% difference
further more 6x2 use front tires on tag they have smaller resistance than drive tires at speed of 100kmh

both trucks are rated to 70ton 155000lbs max possible is 200k for 6x2 and 286k for 6x4

    6x4 have 50700lbs rated axles , 6x2 drive is 28700 tag 23150....

EDIT: i forget to write this is both payload optimised trucks there there is 2stronger differentials for 6x4 and two for 6x2
