The family has already arrived in their new house, and all they have are their suitcases and a lawn chair they got from Wall Mart...patiently waiting for that truck to arrive.

Happened to my parents 20 years ago when they moved from NJ to Denver, CO

Personally, I don't think they should drive so recklessly...what they haul is more precious to that one family than anyone could imagine. Can it be replaced? Sure...but no amount of money will replace memories.

I don't see moving vans going that fast, it's usually container trucks and gravel haulers.

Start off most of them are O/O so the trucks are not govern, and second they have short deadlines in most cases.I work for a moving company before and you wouldn't believe how people expect there stuff to be at the new place at a short amount of time. They are clueless and don't know about DOT rules and think that a moving company can move there stuff 1200 miles in less than 24 hours!

are we talking rental moving vans? In town professional moving companies? or the long haul moving companies?

I've had good personal experience with the latter two...but the rental moving vans...that's a different story. Most people have never driven anything bigger than a pickup truck, and they drive those large box trucks like a corvette (playing lane-jockey, stopping late, cutting you off...)

Now some of those are not moving vans...I use to do trade shows for mayflower and i can tell ya most people cant tell the difference from a moving van and an electronics van..and yes at times we had a deadline to do a show so it was not uncommon to be hammer down.. same in the rock show industry...you only have so much time to make the next gig...

    'Cause they can....

    Yeah but you're from Canada....Anything ove 65 MPH gives you a nosebleed.:biggrin_2559:

    Nor have I...

So, You think that fast is reckless?

That's because they're trying to get away from the area where the pieces fell off their trucks...To avoid a ticket for littering.

But it's always funny when they smack the awning at the gas station or try to go through a drive thru...:biggrin_2559:
