H.O. Wolding is a GREAT company!

Thanks for the updates. I'm a recent graduate of driving school and I'm very interested in your experience at Wolding. I am currently planning to attend orientation for Schneider but one never knows what the future may hold. One of my neighbors drove for Wolding for several years so I'm interested in comparing your experience to his as well. (He seemed generally happy with them, but he doesnt bellyache, so I'm not sure if it's him or Wolding.)

I'm a pre hire there and heading that way I know Im gonna have to pay dues.All i can say is I'll let you know if I'm a trucker a year from now I call trucking school nursery school for truckers.

 

O-Man is that what they are paying u .29 a mile..........Slave Labor u need a raise NOW!!!

 

That is just the base....when you add mileage bonus, safety bonus, and school reinbursement, it is actually the best of the places that hire newbies!!

 

I know drivers that work for them. Their base pay could be higher but they want you to earn mileage bonus of .045 cents and safety bonus of .01 cent.

Pros:
Good miles if you live in their power lanes.
Good home time if you live in their power lanes.
Solid company.
Reliable freight.
Decent pay structure for a smart starting driver.
Pay check cut weekly

Cons:
Older fleet equipment (freightliner - Columbia).
APU available on small percentage of trucks.
Smaller drive tires ... Forces driver to crank trailer down.
Cut the engine and limit the rpm
Top speed only 63 mph (i think)

Every company had its issues but over all this company is good for a driver that lives in their power lane.

 

Actually the cons above are lessening pretty quickly...
New cascadeias are being delivered pretty quickly, and driver willing to run e-logs can get one if they run good, and have been around for a year...the new trucks all have opti-idle, and wabasco heaters, and REGULAR sized tires......also most of the older trailers are getting scrapped, so lots of newer
trailers comming online.
Living in the right area (the power lanes) with shippers/recirvers) in your local area (like me) means you can get home often (weekly or better), and still get good miles.

 

I know it has been a while, but I would like to continue to update my experience at Wolding. Long story short, had to create a new account (originally GoPackGo77) because my email acct was voided & lost everything. I could not be happier with my choice. 1st quarter of 2012 ran 33,556 miles and achieved the big bonus: 33,556x.045=$1510.02 in bonus pay for the quarter. As of my last pay stub ending 5/25 I have run 21,563 miles and with last week's loads from LA-MN; MN-SD-WI; WI-PA; PA-ME that should put me over 25,000 miles with a month to go left in the quarter. As far as those saying that the starting pay is low at .29/mi, here is some food for thought. So far for the year, I have grossed $21,027.42 while running 55,119 miles. $21,027.42/55,119 mi=$.38/mi. Granted, that's after my 6 mo increase to $.30/mi but I have only had that for a couple of weeks now. With all of the accessory pay, you are not really making that .$29/mi. Also, the mileage bonus is VERY achievable if you're willing to work for it. My dispatcher and I get along great, he gets me out to SoCal on a regular basis which is a must for me, and he keeps me running until I'm ready to head home. Everybody else has been great as well, the shop gets ya fixed up when ya need it whether you're at the yard or on the road. Now that I have a smart phone, I'll make a better effort to keep my experience updated. If you see me on the road (#1223) gimme a holler. Happy Travels.

 

Unloading here at the Sam's Club in Niagara Falls and then picking up in Canandaigua, NY heading to W. Boylston, MA. After that heading home for a few days and a little R&R. 7 MPG today with 47,900 in the box. Not too shabby.

 

Finishing up my 10 at the rest area in Allegany, NY. Great place for some good sleep, very quiet. Currently on a load of paper going from Jay, ME to Aberdeen, SD. Not a bad way to start the week at all. Last week's paycheck was a good one. With accessory pay, grossed $1686.70 on 4489 paid miles. Load miles looked like this:
5/21-5/25 1671 LD / 19 MT
5/25-5/26 444 LD / 0 MT
5/26-5/30 1785 LD / 110 MT
5/30- 6/1 460 LD / 0 MT
No complaints here, doing what I'm asked and being rewarded in return. Stay safe out there. Happy trails

 

GoPackGo77 sounds like you're having a ball! I'm in school right now and filled out an application for Wolden, I'm in Jacksonville, which does show it part of their "hiring" area.....so now it's wait and see, I guess.
