Leasing a trk from england is like going back to Slavery, your paying them for there trk, not making any money unless you get a second seat, and roll 24/7, then you have to pay the second seat and put your life in the second seats hands so to speak, been there done that with england, NEVER AGAIN, STAY AWAY FROM CR ENGLAND.... they will blled you dry
-
there a lot of options out ther guys....
did I get raped while working for dick simon -???
ummmm no. I look at the lackluster wages for hard work as a stepping stone and like paying pentence for my inexperience at the time....
England will teach you what you need to know to move on...
England/Swift whoever - all those companies are what I refer to as "starter" companies.... they serve their purpose. They serve you by getting you up and running - teaching you stuff that you can never learn in a book - BUT they also teach you that no matter what spin they put on their new deal or lease - the fact is you will have to work your ### off.
been there - done that - survived and moved on... -

I am a Central Refrigerated student in West Valley.
I see CR England guys walking over to us, bags still packed, all the time.
Ok our living acomodations at CRS is not the greatest in the world, but I hear compared to there, it's like a night in a Hilton.
No armed guards. Almost everyone is really friendly.
I heard it was bad over there, but ####! After hearing some of the people talk about what it's like over there at England, all I can say is Stay The Hell Away.

I know carl above as he knows me, we went to the same school same time etc.. he did get royally messed over, however I am now a dedicated driver, and as of yet have had no real bad times, on my second lease, and am now taking home from 1200-1400 a week. I think its pick and choose in some degree on how things work here at CR

first off, i want to assure you that i do work for CRE.. and have so for the past year.
I have made good money at CRE. for my first year. i got home roughly every month, minimum, with a few stops enroute. (in summary for my first year i got home every three weeks, average) i live in north carolina
i hate their management approach, and quite a few other things about them, but as far as miles and money and even that one-sided lease contract, at the end of the year it was well worth it
i have been comparing a lot of companies lately because of some management differences i have with CRE, and to be honest, their pay scale is probably one of the highest

i could write a book on the issues and problems i have with CRE, but this is clear, i did make money my first year, and was able to take care of myself and my family -
i posted that from another forum i belong to
i recently left CRE because i just disagree with their management style
but i did make money there -
HI y'all.... I had to add my 2 cents...
I worked for CRE back when no one else would accept me and I went thru a training program in Indiana and was in orientation the following week. At the time trainers were allowed to take up to 2 students at one time. The first trainer was worthless.. he was in the bunk more then anywhere else... I certainty hope that he wasn't doing the other trainee.. but who knows. I didn't care.. I was here to learn how to drive a truck. I didn't stick with him long, so then I went with another trainee and a trainer, and that was actually a bit better.. (3 females in one truck; definitely a conversation piece).. lol Anyway, I was done with training about 18,000 miles; they gave us thanksgiving off and then the trainee and I went out to team together. What a frickin fiasco that was... She tried to kill me one night going from one highway merging to the other one while talking on the CB and clearly NOT slowing down. Next day she said that she didn't see a sign telling her to slow down... Pfffft.. Common sense should of at least "kicked" in.. Well she didn't last long, then got another team partner and with his road rage attitude that didn't last long either and plus they were starving us. about 1800 to 2500 miles/week really was bad. I didn't make it a year, but I had paid my debt to training, since they didn't charge me like everyone else. I left after about 7 months.
But that is correct you have to go through metal detectors to get to management and a security guard. I think I met my dispatcher ONCE, of course talked to his butt on a numerous of occasions. I saw home every 4 months. They will not get you close to your home because if you get close to your home, you will want to stay home and not return. "Home-Sick"....
Yes, the lease program was virtually shoved down our throats not only in training class, orientation, and you had to have a lease class; where they shoved it down some more. I had no desire to become an lease / o/op right away and I told them no every time. The trainers also would show you their paychecks off the q=com, to show how much money they made while training and leasing. I think only about 1 or 2 trucks are actually owned by CRE..
Alot of the drivers did go to PRIDE; right down the street; which is owned by a brother; which is supposedly a better company then CRE; and I believe they pull Reefer trailers.
I guess if you have no other place to go; no one else will touch you and my situation was not of an criminal kind.. I had gone thru training at a private school and then didn't attempt to drive until the following year, I would of had to pay another $3,000 for refresher course. CRE allowed me to train with them, but I really wasn't happy with them once I got out there, but they served their purpose.
Good luck if you decide to go there, stay away from the lease program, and just try to learn what you can. But, I would try to find another company to go with, but not Swift. Hogan, Schneider, Werner, Millis Transfer, Stevens (you stay out for months), and I'm sure there is someone else. Or a private school so you can pick who ya wanna drive for but ya still need a trainer.
Only you can make the decision.. Some people that go there are VERY HAPPY and stay with them and then they train for them. But just remember if get fired or quit; you better have your own mode of transportation home, because they will not help you, like most companies.
Good Luck!!

jar_head_johnny Thanks this. -
yeah, they pushed that cat and training program
i drove only solo, i cant imagine living with anyone but my wife, and SHE wouldnt last in a truck with me for longer than a few days
they do sometimes put three people in a truck, i think thats horrible
like i said, i could write a book on things i find wrong with CRE, but making money wasnt the problem for almost a full year
they treat their drivers like mules, is another one that bothers me, that metal detector truly reflects the attitude that management has with their drivers, though from what i hear, its needed because people come there trying to kill management
but maybe one day CRE will figure out, if you didnt treat people so poorly they wouldnt come gunning for you
