That's correct . Under 10,000 lbs. GVWR is not a CMV and not regulated . That's why so many expediters run cargo vans - no logs required unless hauling hazmat requiring placards .
I got all these done. What else do I need to roll legal?

Very true. My new Silverado gets 19mpg highway but only 12mpg pulling my trailer with the Harley and quads inside it.

So under 10000 lbs requires nothing to legally hual stuff? Would you still need a dot athority?
