shovel...your right...but I like to have things working as they should. If something is done I like to be the one that does it, and know exactly what it will do and why. Guess I'm kind of OCD like that...but when something fails...I want to make sure of what did it...want to have all the bases covered. And want to get a good baseline for ECM upgrades in the future. Can't do that if its not right from the get go.

Yes the 5EK and up engines use a 4 digit rim number or as CAT calls it a Injector Calibration Code. CAT didn't change to files until the Acert engines came into production.

He couldn't change any other numbers or flash files in the ECM without having a password generator. I doubt he's done anything more than the trim numbers.

Each injectors has it's own number printed on the tappet or solenoid. If you look at the ECM trim numbers with CAT ET, you should see 6 different 4 digit trim numbers for each injector programmed into the ECM. If they all have the same number at each cylinder, then you'll have to remove the valve covers to read the original number on each injector to be able to reprogram them back into the ECM

Thanks Mr Haney. I remember him saying something about running some of the trucks with the same number that it wouldn't make a difference. The more I read the more I see he was wrong.

He didn't have a password generator. Thanks again. Would you mind taking a look at my thread about the valve actuators? I have read alot on the forum about them....but the codes they were getting are not what I'm getting. I'm thinking harness...but wanted to get some experienced opinions. Thanks. Will probably pull valve cover tomorrow.

I have a 2000 peterbilt with 3406E 2WS engine and i have over 2 million miles on it. I drive this truck myself. I crimped the wastegate line the first day i brought it home and it has been crimped its entire life. Sent my computer to performance diesel and had it set for 650 hp. I also owned a 2000 w900L kw with a 2WS engine for 4 years that i crimped the wastegate line on also. I haul grain about 8 months out of the year with these trucks and haul loads that gross over 100,000 lbs daily with both trucks. The other 4 months they run cross country. I have never had any trouble what so ever because of a crimped wastegate line. By the way the 2000 pete with the 2 million miles has only had one turbo put on other than the one from the cat factory and that was because i went to a bigger turbo. It will pull 41 to 43 lbs of boost. I have been in the trucking business since 1968 which puts me in a rruck for 39 years. During these 39 years i have heard so many things that people say wont work because its are hard on the engine such as this wastegate line crimping. Please dont misunderstand what im saying here. Im not telling anyone to block or crimp their wastegate line. What i am saying is it raised my fuel milage because of more power at the top of my peddle which keeps you from having to mash the accelerator way on down to get the power needed. By the way my 2 million mile 2WS 650 hp engine has been overhauled only 2 times so crimping a wastegate line cant be too bad on it.
