I had a passcode that they used and YES I had access to ALL the freight in the system... not the broker board that withholds the $$ and other contact info.. Just like the BCO's have..

This was about 5 years ago... so maybe they don't do it any more??
The screen name was "Landstar" and the password was "Truck1" I still have it but it no longer works..
    Anyhow.. It's a suggestion..

I'm not with LS.. they had some BS stuff at one of their accessment centers.. There was a "glitch" on my app. they said in about 1 hr. after me faxing my app. into them that I wasn't qualified. I asked "Why?" their responce was "We can't tell you!" I was dumbfounded.. what do ya mean you can't tell me I'm the applicant! Needless to say I found a small problem on my DAC.. got it taken care of then called back.. "Was that the problem I asked?" again "We can't tell you, but feel free to re-apply in a year!" I told them to kiss my arse and I have been # Mercer ever since..

I have friends # LS but I'll never go there.. I think they think that their crap don't stink. Most drivers I've met try and BS me with bragging about the "gross" $$ the load pays NOT what they are bringing home..

Just watch how many LS drivers get all offended by a little critisim right here... I'm sure I stired up a whole lot of nasty, responces, and now they'll slander Mercer drivers and the whole thing will turn into a war of words like the CB in a truckstop...

All companies have their share of junk freight.. It doesn't matter.. To take a brush and paint all lease O/O as bad.. There is more to consider in leasing on.. Things like cheaper fuel.. I speak just for myself here # Mercer..
We get cost plus # T/A's.. often paying like $2.50 a gal for fuel when the pump cash price says $2.85 - $2.90 a gal.
    We do not get ANY road taxes / fuel taxes charged back to us.. (ever)..;
We get up to 50% of the truck pay in advance IF we want it..
We can use Comdata OR TCH for fuel.
We get paid 5 days a week.. You turn in your trip.. you get paid usually within 24hrs.. (except weekends).
We have national account prices on just about any tire you want.

That's some of the things in a nut shell.. as a independant.. you will NOT have such a fuel discount.. Not always have an advance on a load., Will have to wait for your money, 30, 60, maybe 90 days? (Unless using a factoring company).. You might even get burned by a broker for thousands of dollars on 1 load.. The broker simply goes bankrupt and your left with nothing.
Load boards are usually filled with the stuff no one else wants.. All the good loads are taken by the lease trucks.. Be it LS, Bennett, CRST, Mercer, anyone... they all do it.

Don't take my word for it.. Do some research on your own.. & see for yourself.

no you didn't, NOT all the freight goes on the board....most of the good stuff never makes that load board....what you saw was prolly a lot of the garbage with maybe some ok stuff mixed in..

I don't have to research anything I've pulled Landstar trailers for 8 years driving for an agent I know how the game is played..

Hi, my name is Kurt and I am with Landstar. Please give me a call at 877-868-8341 so we can discuss Landstar's load board.

kudos to you for having you're own auth./ true response to you're question is._ the only loads that get brokered out from landstar are the ones that no BCO here would ever haul.// in fact when times get hard ill do CHR. when desperate.// were as you're not a landstar member, you don't get a look at what is available to us. only the left overs, sorry but you wanted to no.

Actually, you're wrong, but way to pull up a post that's been dead for coming up on two years. The first person to call generally gets the load. I don't have time to play around waiting on a BCO to call. I call the ones on the list who's home base is in the general region my load is going and see if they want it first. If they say no, then the first person to call in generally gets the load.

It's funny. Seems like every time somebody badmouths either CH Robinson or Landstar around here I end up having something fall on my lap from one or the other that is really sweet. Today it was Landstar. Has to be one of the most unusal loads and situations I've dealt with so far, the rates are A-1 solid, I really love my job.. That's all that needs to be said about it... Will add that this is one of those loads that BCO's will never see because of the situation with the logistics involved but they'd be foolish not to jump all over it if given the chance. The notion that garbage loads are the only thing outside carriers haul is untrue. I have done several loads for Landstar like this and every one of them paid me very well. I wish every load was like this, and it wasn't such a challenge to find the better rates, but even so, times like these are why I keep doing it and what makes it all so exciting..

Landstar agents make MORE money on brokered loads than BCO loads.
I have seen some agents put the load on dat board first over landstar board. Though it may just be a few minutes. I like CHR the best overall.
