Is 65 yrs old too old for a new otr STUDENT?

Now that right there is some funny stuff, driver. Really, it is.

 

if they can pass the physical and they can do the work,why not? maybe he doesnt want to sit at home in some ghetto on a ramen noodle budget wasting away watching the price is right. possibly he values work and wants to be active... and yes,i do know 65 is when you get full retirement benefits from the government.

 

Sorry but i'm looking at this differnt angle, but too me , if your in good shape, i see age only as number, if the driver can do the work , why not, i learn alot from the old drivers

 

In Canada drivers 65 and over have to go through the entire retesting process every year . Some had their CDL pulled because they weren't as precise on their pretrip as their instructor expected .

I can't believe they hire kids in their 20's that were still living at home , never did an honest day's work , and walk around with their caps on backwards with those saggy jeans .
It would be interesting to compare retention rates of newbies in their 60's with newbies in their 20's .

 

Age has nothing to do with driving . If an elder person can get qualified and do the job ,then why not ?

 

Ever notice the ages of people crying the can't drive more than 7 or 8 hours without stopping for a nap ?

 

Are you for real? I am approaching that age and bet I can kick your ###. I have been doing hard work all my life and can still out work some guys in there 20's.

 

I'm older than Gold Miner and just last week beat a 23-year old male in my CDL class at arm wrestling. I haven't taken a nap in years, flew long-distance airplanes MUCH farther than trucks go, and regularly make a non-stop, 16+ hours-long drive from Michigan to Oklahoma to visit grandchildren. The OP sounds like he just doesn't like "old" people--just wait until he is one!
