One of the wells up here in PA detected that H2S gas, me being from Florida and having never worked in natural gas I was like "no big deal", then I got on site and had to sit through safety training and by the time I was done I was ready to rent one of those scuba gear sets from the Total Safety guys on site for fear that I might pass out dead pumping off my water if I didn't have it on. Oil field work, whether it be in PA, TX, ND or anywhere in between is like nothing I've ever seen before, just wish I had the Texas weather up here in PA.

We have wells in oklohoma that have H2S contamantion we cannot get on the tanks to gauge them the pumpers meet us and read the computer and tell us what to pull. I have to agree on the Mack trucks we have two new pinncles that are awsome and one 2004 ch600 that I like to drive its underpowered and does not have a engine brake but it will turn on a dime. The big petes are always broke and in the bay one has a c-15 and is a dogg. The macks with the Mp-8 will eat it alive. The internationals just fall apart.
We have a lease that is on an old mans ranch he has a sign that says 25 mph on the road that passes his house. He came on the lease on started yelling about dust and I was going to jail? I told him hold on I am gonna call the sheriff because he is in an unauthroized area and I can get the crime stoppers reward! He left and has not bothered anyone since.

Hang in there Paul, seems like you're getting the upper hand. Been in Texas all my life except for short stints and said the same thing about it once or twice myself. lol Those distractions and hard work can take a guy's energy buuuut, not much I can say about that.....

Hopefully all any of us will ever run into on these big ranches is a rancher that wants to run his head.

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm a big fan of this thread. Wife and I just completed a PTDI certified program with hazmat, tanker, doubles and triples and we have TWIC cards. We are heading down to Texas sometime in mid March and the plan is to haul water.

Anyway, keep up the great work. Look forward to reading more experiences!

Be careful Paul! I have been on the sidelines of this thread for a while now and I hate to see a woman and a lil partying come between you and your dreams. Stay hard at it and save your money, so maybe one day you can move on to a more relaxed job and have that cash cushion to fall back on!
You have worked to hard to let lil things like that get in your way now! More times than not, those women like to stay around and leach all the money away from a dude thats making good money. I speak from experience!

yeah, i hate the feeling of being vulnerable, i mean really, why the f would a rancher ask me who the hell i am?.......yeah man, i'm out here four wheelin in a vacuum truck on your lease when youve already had litterally thousands of rigs drive through your lease site over the years, duh. i asked some other drivers if they would feel unnerved about a truck following them like that and they said yes. anyway old timer, you look like a tough old dude, goodluck with the job and have fun.

sure thing, i'll have to update because the hornet is too in love with the job to take care of buisness here, you two should come to nabors, not a bad place to start. texas energy is virtually the same as nabors.

naw man, i never let women take advantage of me financially, i squeeze a nickel pretty tight and i only go for girls who are sweet, personally, ive never had a woman interested in my money and ive never had a woman say no to me, guess i'm lucky in love, ive always pulled down the decent ones. I think the problem was a combination of too many things at once, lack of sleep, hard shifts, all those feel good emotions with a woman......you add all those things together and you just get spent. i know one thing, my limits are pretty far and i feel pretty good now. the job itself will never wear me out, so what i got to do is keep my distractions down and thats not hard to do. if i ever leave this job, its because i am moving to something better, not leaving because of the job itself. i like the job and i like a lot of hours and its been proving to be a chore to get those hours, my ideal situation is to have a truck sitting there waiting for me where i can work the hours, yet still have a structured schedule. over here, to get the hours i want, i got to wake up early and find out whats going on, if i cant come in early, then i have a hard time goin back to sleep and it really sucks.....tryin to sleep with adrenaline, man i hate that and that is definately getting old......so thats gonna come to a stop, lol, but ive said that before lol.

its pretty cool to actually see the faces behind the replies in this thread, ive noticed we got a bunch of older guys on board now which is good because i think the older generations are tougher, not that i'm a spring chicken either because i'm 44, but ive noticed the younger guys here dont last and i think thats a product of our soft and degenerate society these days.

so i drove for big lake last night since we are so slow here at the moment, the dispatcher named laurie was really super nice and i wish she could dispatch for me every night. anyways, regardless of it being slow here, the hiring has not stopped one bit so if anyone is interested, come on down.

me and hornet are goin to san angelo today, gonna get some philly cheese steaks. i went to the dentist again today and got ready for a crown on the back tooth and then my teeth will be perfect. teeth are important and expensive, so i feel pretty good about spending some money on them while i'm makin the money. i told hornet he should take care of that buisness as well because u never know. if u lose yur job or whatever and all u got is some savings, yur teeth can be put on the back burner and before you know it, yur broke again and thats probably when yur teeth will give u problems and u dont want teeth problems when being broke. i hadnt seen the dentist for 10 years and even though my teeth were full of plaque, i didnt have one cavity which tells me that not eating red meat and sugar is a good thing because i get cavities easy. now i'm stayin on top of my teeth and they look great. feel pretty good about it. it was hell gettin the plaque off, took 3 sessions with numbing needles which is absolutely tramatic to me. i cant stand someone shoving needles in my gums when i have no control over it, thats what puts me into mild shock, so today i had some nitrous before the shots and the nitrous makes me not care......they need to up the percentage of the nitrous though lol, it was very mild but effective enough. ive done nitrous before where it makes the walls vibrate which is a real cool buzz and i guarentee at that point, you wouldnt care if they were breaking yur teeth with a hammer lol.
