I moved over to the DG account at Ardmore and beginning to wonder if that was a mistake. Last two weekly settlements have been around 550. Now I'm stuck at the DC with no hours and cannot go home for reset in Dallas.
I'm looking into the possibility of buying a truck from Werner and being an O/O and maybe going back to 48 van. 800 a week is better than 550 for sure.
Any O/O's out there on 48 van and the Dollar General. I would appreciate any comments but no BS stuff, okay?

DG is one of the better accounts for money making once you get used to cramming the carts on the lift without spilling too many of them. This is a very sluggish season for retail, so I doubt many drivers are seeing great paychecks so closely tied to consumer spending. -
Well, hosed again. No home load so sitting here at the DC in Ardmore for reset. I hate it when they get behind on getting loads out and just start passing out loads without regards to HOS left and home location. Oh well, life in the fast lane.

They won't let you bobtail the 2 hours home on PDT?
When I was on F$ I usually had to bobtail 4 hours from Iowa to eastern Illinois for the weekend. I felt silly doing it, but it helped perk up my MPG into the mid 8's. -

Wow I'm happy when I get 6.70 mpg on a trip!! Even bobtailing I average 7 on a good day!

You sure your tractor is in good shape? Or are you just enjoying not having the accelerator strapped to your wallet? -
It's a cascadia with the top 2 transmission and a series60 engine, the truck sounds good no leaks whatsoever but I do see a crap load of I64 and pretty much a lot of hills, I averaged a 4.56 on a trip from Indianapolis to Richmond.

Got your tires around 105psi with the 5th wheel as far forward as you can manage? If you can get ahold of Kevin in Indianapolis, or the foreman in Lithia Springs, they can tell you exactly what you need to do to maximize your mileage for the truck you're in, and neither will be bothered telling you. Both are great guys, and Gra-Gar wouldn't have such a bad wrap if there were more like them. -
I'm trying to stay away from terminals those are blackholes, an oil change in Allentown cost me 2 days. So even when they tell me to fuel up in Indianapolis I just keep on going for the next fuel stop.I keep that truck in top shape as much as I can. And I checked with my father he have a 98 freightliner classic with the same engine and he is averaging about the same. So I'm fine with that... Right now I'm just doing some military training so I won't be seeing road until the weekend.
