shawbag I hate to say this because it should'nt be this way but. as a new driver you are going to get used and abused by any co. you go to. make a list and use the search box on here and read the threads on those companies. you'll learn alot even with taking whats being said with a grain of salt. Once you've decided on a few make another list of pros an cons for each. Its going to come down to chosing between the lesser of two or three evils. Personaly i dont think there is a good place for recent grads but ypu have to put a year in somewhere so you can move on to a decent job. I really wish i had better advice for you.

Save your breath. Most of these wannabes think that it will be different for them. They will work hard and do whatever the company tells them and will be million milers with patches up and down their sleeves.
Then like so many they will come back here and say how the company screwed them and their DAC and they can't find work. -
I spent all of this year with Western Express and got canned from there due to a non-vehicle related incident with a shipper.
Got on with Navajo about a month ago and found that reefers really aren't my thing.
I've been accepted to orientations for both Andrus and Pride(another reefer company) as of late.
The hometime options seem to be way better with both of these outfits due to where I live.
However, dry-freight seems to be what I'm particularly after and these guys might be the ones to get it done with.
But if anyone thinks I should stick it out with reefer and go with Pride instead, then I'll keep it under advisement.
Another thing is, I like to run/work, but I don't necessarily like being run to death. -
Pride seems to be a decent company. I don't hear too many complaints about them. Given the choice between Pride and Andrus, and being in Barstow, Pride may be your better choice.
Reefer freight is what it is. It would make life a lot easier if they could do something about the long load/unload times and high priced lumpers, but you take the bad with the good. People have to eat and truckin is faster than rail. There will be a market for reefer freight for at least the foreseeable future. -
In addition to my HAZMAT, I've also got my doubles and tankers that could see some use as well.
As far as the railroad goes, I've been looking at that and diesel repair should I make a complete career switch, again. -
Pride appears to have a better reputation than andrus as well as much better equipment .

I was filling out an application for Andrus trucking and noticed they have a clause....You have to agree for a $25 per week deduction until you hit $400 as a hold back to prevent the driver from leaving with unpaid expenses like truck abandonment. That's BS! When you leave more than likely they owe you!! I worked for a company with such deposits and they found an excuse not to give me back any of it. Said I never turned in equipment! My wife was standing there next to me when I did turn it in! even told the"owner"! He didn't care, raked me over $260. Won't work for any of those companies again!
