For thouroughness sake, I think that this division of Maverick needs it's own thread here.

I just completed CDL school at ASU Newport (The only school I think Maverick uses for in-house training at the moment). I will be travelling to the Laurinberg NC terminal for orientation and glass class for about two weeks, followed by my on-the-road training period.

So far I know little about Maverick speacialised, as I have not completed training, have little experiance, and have no basis for comparison. Please share any info on my new employer that you might have.

Has the glass hauling side of Maverick gotten any better? My recruiter told me just today that he is putting me in this dept. Not what I thought nor what I wanted but I still would like to know about it more before I say yes or no. If you have any advise please share it with me. I have read about how bad it was but I don't know how it is now.

I have been trying to get info on glass spec. also. Maverick wants me to go there also. So far all I can get is Maverick is a great comp. but the driver Notarps4me said he would not do spec. I think the only reason I have gotton yet is because the are not home every weekend. Also about the tarps being heavier. But if your read the brocheur on the site and from what I have been told...75% of loads are already loaded, secured and tarped.....which makes me wonder....and I can not find out.....is would you just drop trailer and someone else unloads and untarps glass too. I will be watching this thread...lets keep it at the top, but I do not think any maverick sp. drivers are on here much.

I was realy hyped on Maverick untill I read this and other post on another thread.

"As a maverick driver,or should i say ex-maverick driver,as of 03-08-07 I would like to just give everyone of you a real outlook and expectation of this not so perfect "perfect" company. What you can expect from these chumps is lengthy layovers, spending money out of your own pocket to operate their trucks, fighting for your pay, thousands of miles they never intend on paying you for, forced to run illegally to make the impossible happen, making family life a thing of the past, constant battle with your stl just to operate from day to day. People the list goes on and on. Im new to this forum and was shocked at some of the REAL ignorance some guys have typed on here by stating that this is a reputable and great company to work for. The negative statements I've read are by far drastically underexagerated. As I finished up my career with maerick as a specialized driver, I did however drive with their flatbed fleet for a while before making the switch. Unlike many of the other guys that bow down to maverick, I'm not your typical school boy truck driver. I have been in the industry for many years and know what to expect from a company. For anyone who may still be in disbelief of just how bad the company's situation is as a whole (meaning specialized and the transportation side) let me make this known, any of u can feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns u may have at any time. I along with 75 other fellow maverick drivers are making a stand to just try to keep as many new people from making the same financial, physical, and mental mistakes we did with maverick. In our band of brothers it is a mixture of half specialized and half transportation guys. my tractor number was 56004 as i would love to disclose all others im leaving it to them as it isn't my place to violate their privacy. Make no mistake!!!! This company has not, does not, and never will care about the real people who make things happen, their drivers. In my opinion be money ahead and have mcdonalds teach u to wash lettuce. o/o tim"tbird"" I dunno...It scared me kinda

You need to get more info. One mans opinion may just be one mans sour grapes. You can never know exactly. I am sure you have been witness to the guy who just cant fit in or do anything the right way. Someone who wants everything their way then bashes everything about the company because he cant make it. This all may be true about Maverick.....just dont base your opinion on one persons opinion. Good luck.

After seeing your questions, I posted "Maverick Specialized - The Rear View" under The Inside Scoop. It is a Recap from my Blog. The blog gives weekly detail from a year with Maverick Specialized.

I don't have enough posts to include a link, but you can find the blog by going to Google, then choose More at the top, and under that Blog Search. A search for Maverick Specialized will pull it right up. (Make sure you spell it with a 'z')

Hope you find the info useful.
