we did 7 live loads to Walmart Loveland last friday and three on Sat., the longest unload was 7 hrs (paperwork wasn't right and they had to have it faxed from the shipper.......in Germany), all others were 2 to 3 hrs gate to gate.

Most times I can count on being in the Walmart DC anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, with the average time being 2.5 hours. The only one I had a bad time in was the New Albany DC. I spent almost an hour at the window just getting checked in. I got unloaded that night after my 14 hrs was up. Security told me I could park along the road. The walmart dc in Harrisonville Mo did me a big favor the other day. I was on my 4th drop of 4 with 2 pallets left. My reefer was giving me trouble. I called the dc and asked them if they could get me in early and told them why, they said yes get on in. It took about 15 minutes to get me unloaded.

Delivered there once and that's it. They were rude where I was picking up at, and where I dropped off wasn't much better. First time I was told to pay a unload fee..usually I get PAID for unloading or helping loading. I told them I am no touch freight, to bill the broker, or who ever they want. I got unloaded, and they just billed the broker, and I was out of there, I didn't even stop for their stupid security ####. Never going there again.

Yeah, us tank yankers would NOT get along well at these places.

    Case in point:

O/O and fellow tank yanker friend, a few years ago thaught it would be a good idea in the slow season to pull some dry van stuff (Jan. Feb. Mar).

One of the first places they send him is to a Wal Mart DC to pick up a load. He said he was there for about 8 hours. After he was done, he went in with a demurrage bill and talks to the person seemingly in charge. Tells him they can cut him a check and he'll be on his way. The Wal Mart employee doesn't know what he's talking about... then finally tells him that it is against Wal Mart policy to pay detention pay.

Mike then pulls his truck about 20 ft from the dock... reopens the doors then goes back in to talk to the guy. He then tells the guy to unload the trailer, as it is against his company policy(he's an O/O) to pull freight for companies that refuse to pay demurrage. They went round and round with it, until then.... Finally, the Wal Mart guy agrees to write him a check... Mike says, "Do i look like a total fool? It's gonna be cash, now"... They were able to round up the cash to pay him... but told him, he was banned for life from the distrobution center.... LOL! To this day, Mike will not set foot in a Wal Mart store.

I used to drive for Stevens Transport and found the Walmart DC in Brundidge, AL to be the best. The people were always nice and despite what I brought in, I was typically in and out within 2 hours unlike the other DCs.

Now that I'm with Werner it's all drop and hook, yet the DCs in my region are still full of nice people. I guess it's all in how you approach them. Except for some of those bad eggs who are negative no matter what you do.

Ya know, the lady security guard at the New Braunfels DC was really nice today, despite being the only one handling incoming and outgoing loads.

I dunno about you but I've had more attitude at Lowe's DCs than Walmart.
