Finally got my truck inspected, new set of super singles put on and a complete service for the truck and APU. It only took until noon today but I'm good to go. I knew where I was going next yesterday but Louie wanted to make sure everything was good with my truck before dispatching me.
I got dispatched late this morning. I pick up a loaded trailer from one of our customers by the terminal at 4pm going to Mesquite Texas for Monday. I then got preplanned from Jason for the rest of the week after I unload. I will be loading in Paragould AR Tuesday going to Buffalo NY then reloading in Buffalo coming back to PA. The way it's all set up I will be back in Pittston next Friday with 3600 miles under my belt. Then home. Be safe all, God Bless!

Did your tractor have super singles on it before or this ALL new ?

Ok thanks , a lot of places seem to be switching from duals to singles.

Supposedly better fuel economy and lighter overall weight.

Try to roll on that flat tire for any distance and you might as well have that service truck bring you a new rim as well. So much for limping into a truck stop or back to the company yard for a new tire. -

I always had good luck with them but when they blow out, you know it... I lost one in BFE Georgia late at night and the closest shop only carried regular tires. So they stuck a dual set of regulars in place. I was toting that huge rim in my passenger seat till I get back to the terminal.

When I was with Con-way Truckload, 100% of the tractors had 'em and about 95% of the trailers had 'em. The only one I had blow was an MT in a gravel drop lot while I was pulling into a parking spot in 2nd gear. Go figure.
I did have to have another one replaced from sidewall damage but it still held air. My opinion is that they are very durable. Obviously easy to check the tire pressure as well. Takes a little longer to add air in them and good luck if you end up hooking to a weak compressor. The biggest disappointment with them is they don't cut into the snow very well. I had a lightly loaded trailer SKI a little on me in a rest area just west of Vail. Crawling uphill was fine but when I turned sideways to the slope I saw it skiing sideways in my mirror. And coming down slope could feel the tires slipping. Had to set the trailer brakes along with the tractor brakes to get it to quit slipping on the slope when I tried to park. Anyways, that was my one year experience with Super Singles.
