Question...

Sounds like a robot to me. I showered at least every 2 days maybe daily depending on my loads (I ran flatbed). I ate when I was hungry. Had a TV, Microwave, and a small fridge in the truck. I carried my own food, although it was mostly crackers, hot dogs, bologna, and vienna sausages.... I had the occational hungry man dinner in there.
Don't worry about being different than him. We're all different and we all have our different ways. You are your own boss.. you decide when you want to eat.. shower.. and sleep. Don't let this guy train you to think that you don't have time for anything. Try to pick up the good points... if he has any.. and let the rest fly out the window.

 

Oh I should have said daily, or every other day DEPENDING on where I was. If I wasn't around a truck stop I broke out the wipes. Which suck...

 

Most companies have policies on how often a shower MUST be made available to you. They dont want you going inside their customers offices smelling bad any more than you want to be that way. I would call your cmpany and inquire about their policies. After that you might request a new trainer. If you and he cant get along, you have every right to be trained by a person you are comfortable with. Now the catch to that is (depending on your company) they may pull you back to a terminal and have you sit in a motel until a new trainer is available. Some companies that could be right away while others could be weeks. If you would extend your stay away from home by weeks it just comes down to how much you are willing to put up with to get home on time.

But definately try calling your company. Start with dispatch and work your way up as necessary. If your company policy is every 2 days then enfocre that with your trainer. If you have not gotten your rewards cards yet, try to do that as soon as you can. Most truck stops will run both card for a team. That way you have a shower on your card whenever you want it. Just stop the truck and take it. If he dont like it let him call and explain he doesnt like you because you are clean and you eat.

I dont think that its normal. But I'm still new too and my trainer had some hygiene issues as well. Bottom line is once you are done with him your showers and eating habits are up to you. So check with your company and make whatever decision you can live with.

Yeah deffinately sign up for a rewards card at every truck stop you fuel at!!!! Company paid fuel = freeee showers for you!!!!!

 

I was straight but once i met my trainer things changed, now if he pulls into the pickle park, it will be a great time! Ask him about going there, tell him your interested..
But as far as your living conviences, goes... Its his world. Not yours..

Not if you drive for CRST They get an additional discount on fuel in lew of the cards for the drivers.
