Out Of MI???

They're not based in Michigan, but try TMC. I live in Monroe (Just south of detroit) and when i drove for them i was home 2-3 Nights/weekly (They guarantee you home every weekend) unless you want to stay out more than a week, then they will accomodate that also.

If you can handle flatbedding (Its hard work) then i'd say give them a try, they have some of the best training in the industry for new drivers, and some real purdy petes.


Dont worry, i no longer drive for em so im not blowin smoke for a bonus.

 

Try Knight for home time, but if i was you... Stick out the swift ride for atleast a yr. Dont believe it will be greener on the other side!

 

What would you accomplish by jumping ship with six weeks experience? Nothing except giving yourself a reputation as a quitter. What happens if you went somewhere else and didn't like them either, or couldn't take it? You move to another company. six weeks after that, move again, then again and again. Pretty soon....NO ONE will hire you.
And personally, I believe that the whole industry would be better if all the quitters were gone. I MIGHT actually get a raise. Until you have some REAL experience under your belt, you really only have two choices: Man-Up or go flip burgers at Wendy's.

 

Well, make sure that TMC Follows through on you.

Otherwise, if you stick it out at swift for a year, then start calling companies on things like Dedicated, Regional, or Local stuff. Lot of companies look for 6 mos-1 year of experience for stuff like that, and also makes the process of hire smoother by not having to call 2-4 employers. If they have to make a Judgment Call on your experience of "Job Jumping" 9 times out of 10 it's against you.

No Fear, I would agree with Roadkill, get at least 1 year's experience under your belt before you think about leaving. As for the disrespect, just ignore it; I learned driving for Covenant, so I caught my fair share of crap for it.

As for where you live, you may want to call MPH up; they are based out of Fremont, and are supposed to get their drivers home for weekends (if you so desire). You may want to talk to some of the outfits out of Grand Rapids as well, since you're in Muskegon, but for most of those cos., you will need at least 1 year's worth of experience.

 

Stick out your year before you go looking, chances are if you change now you'll be right back to school and doing the trainer thing again before you get your truck again.

Just because they are out of MI doesnt mean they will get you home. Know drivers that drive for many of the Co's here in GR and they dont get much home time.

 

Sure Crash, but there are some that can get their drivers home regularly, like Van's, or Columbian Logistics (at least the daycab guys do).

 

Drive for Van's, might as well drive for Equity. Same Owner: Alan Bishop. Equity has better equipment.
