    Short reply - Not Enough!!!!:biggrin_2552:

Now, separating the income (gross/expenses/Net after tax/household takehome/ household expenses) is a different story.

On the business side, I'll gross about $250k or so. When everyone gets their hands out of my cookie jar, I'll have about $80K to $90K left that pays the household bills and for savings etc.

BUT!!! I run under someone elses authority. He gets 25% of my money every week after Permit/escort expenses. So when I buy my own trailer and get my own authority, I'll be getting a raise. That 25% covers my use of his trailer and secretary to do paperwork, Ifta, factoring, etc.

no crap!!thanx for telling me.if you gross 70,000 and net 35 thats ok.if you gross 200,000 and net 100.000 it's the same percentage profit, but it's alot more profit.this was for example, your miles may vary.

Interesting thread! But grossing 200k means little if not compared to how many miles and days it cost and how much fuel it used. And then there are the Intangible risks or "what ifs"
Better question would have been where can I net ___ as an O/O taking the risks of an O/O? or as a company driver without taking as many risks.

NET is the ultimate interest but INITIALLY gross is more important because once you know what can be made, you can calculate how much of it you NET based on your business AND personal expenses. Each person's expenses will be different which will of course affect their NET, so I'm more concerned with the gross.

The other driver may have trailer rent or exorbitant lease payments which erode his/her net income.

Ditto what Travelinman said.Gross and miles run would be 1st things needed, everyones net will be different. Why would someone elses net be important? Too many variables/differences.

    who told you that lie?

that is not true at all

some folks will net more at 140,000 gross than some will at 200,000

the main thing is how many miles do you have to run to get that 200,000 gross.

would you rather gross 200,000 on 100,000 miles or gross 230,000 on 150,000 miles?

the proper question is where i can avg the most DOLLARS per mile ran loaded and empty.

and to answer your question i did 200,000 on 105,000 miles loaded and empty. i cleared enough to make my hip hurt sittin on my wallet.

people are way to hung up on just gross, it is the miles ran to achieve gross that matter.
