Well, the way I see it, there's no real reason to go with a carry and all the bother of permits. You bringing it in to the truck stop? Everybody gets all hung up on handguns for some reason.

Ask any self-defense expert, and they'll tell you the most effective weapon, bar none and hands down, is a pump shotgun. The mere "clack-clack" of jacking one in the chamber is usually enough to do the job.

Oh, and sorry about the hijack.

yes a shot gun is the best. but you cant really conceal one and carry it with you. but you could carry the judge and some .410 shot rounds.

I know Ky law BUT as I stated before according to DOT its ILLEGAL. Whether it actually is is another story. DOT has the badge so who do you think would win the argument??

Do you honestly think all cops know every law out there? Ive been told by Indiana state troopers that its illegal to open carry a pistol in Indiana (with a license), and its not. Ive been told by Marion County deputies that its illegal to have a bullet in the chamber in Indiana, which its not. Just because a cop said it doesnt make it law.

The DOT officer you talked to was wrong. It happens.

He might arrest you for what he thinks is illegal, but it will get thrown out. It happens every day.

understand that. Just its been multiple officers so it does raise question. And I don't have the time money or patience to deal with a BS charge. I have 3 knives in my truck that I can reach from the bed or drivers seat. Someone climbing into a truck is compromised so I think me and the blades will be ok and not chance the hassle over whether my 40 XD is legal or not. Again I understand what you're sayin but no1 seems to catch what I mean. When I have time since doin on a phone is slow ill list all the legal weapons in Ky that aren't firearms. Its a healthy list. Another thing unless you carry it with you or lock it up. say some1 watches you leave your truck and breaks in, unarmed. They find your gun. Its a weapon and money. You come back to the truck and find that person in your truck. He has your gun. This could end a few different ways.
