Holy crap. My truck overheated and spit out all of its coolant. It's a new cascadia so it shuts down after a minute or so if you try to drive it with the coolant this low. You're doing 60 and everything just shuts down. No power steering no shifting, nada. This schmuk load coordinater wants me to try and drive it up the highway to the nearest truck stop for coolant! And he actually tried to make me feel bad that the company is goin to have to fork out $600 for a wrecker to bring me! These f!ckin people are insane. Absolutely insane. How am I suppose to feel after this prik just tried to put my life and everyone elses life on the highway at risk??? There you go people. That's USA Truck for you. The junk in the trailer is more important than a human life.

If you unplug the coolant sensor it will run with the check engine light on and derate, but will not shut down.....at least the older freightliners would.
Wargames Thanks this. -

The part where the L/C pity trips a new driver into commiting a dangerous act for the sake of the million dollar company.
-
You LET THE SHOP DICTATE WHAT TO DO, no one else. THEN THE SHOP DICTATES TO DISPATCH WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!!! If you cook that engine, by driving it like the other poster said by unplugging the sensor, and that engine cooks?? YOU WILL BE FIRED AND DAC'D BIG TIME.
NOT really good advice to tell him to continue driving, you suddenly became a Freigthliner dealer mechanic?? -
that why i carry duct tape and couple gallons of water with me, most time i can fix it, yes that usa for ya i put up a year and half for reasons like that, then found greener pastures

And what was going on with the temp gauge prior to this occurence?
-
Breakdown was contacted first. The L/C got his panties in a twist because it's a "crucial" load I'm on and he doesnt want daddy to spank him if it's late so he chimed in as fast as he could and gave his half arsed opinion on what to do. And yes, I am new. Thank you.

Temp gauge was normal. Everything was normal. Check engine light came on and it shutdown. Coolant was spewing from under the cab.

Translation of a typical "crucial" load": One that the driver will bust his tail to get delivered on time, according to the carrier, only to be told upon arrival by the receiver "I've got a warehouse full of this!".
This is especially true when dealing with weekend support staff.
