I could never be a mentor. I'm a moderate "avoidant personality". I'm really good at knowing but not so much at telling, especially about backing.

And I like to decorate my cab with cartoon characters. :biggrin_2552:

LOL I can understand that. I got into trucking because I dont like people all that much and like working alone without someone looking over my shoulder ALL THE TIME. That is why I know the hardest time for me will be the 6 weeks or whatever out with a mentor especially if we have different music tastes and if he is not all that hygiene conscious(I hate nasty people). :biggrin_25510: I could deal with the cartoon characters considering im in my 30's and still read comic books. But 6 weeks is not that long and I've endured worse. How about pay I hear to expect something like 300/wk after taxes which is not what I was looking for I want more like 500 and 1000 would be my ultimate goal.

Pay is $500 first 4 weeks the last two is $600 before taxes as for training mine went well and had issues with my mentor at times I only had 5 weeks of training and was worried I wasn't ready but I did it and been on my own 5 months now as for pay may start out low depending on you will determine how much you make and the loads you get My first 2 months was ok $600 to $700 a week unless I we t home I'm averaging $800 to $1050 a week now and $400 to $500 went I go home, if u wanna make money you have to stay out 4 or 5 weeks at a time I do and then take 4 days home and do it all over again, I still have issues backing at tmes but it's getting easier at time goes. Good luck Swift has ple Ty of loads out there. Ur u gotta be will to drive 600 miles a day to make that good money like I am I already got my 1st raise another 1 in about a month

Yeah that sounds great as for right now I really have no reason to be home all the time until I have built my bank account up. Then I would need to come home to take care of some business. I got my orientation info e-mailed to me today Im supposed to go next monday but I think Im going to push it back a week so I can spend spring break with my kids since I dont know when I'll be back once I leave. I hope they dont have a problem with that. scarface have you been all over or do they keep you in a general regional area?

Well I live in St Louis, they tend to keep me east a lot and there is tons of freight there when I do go West I never stay long week at the most then right back to the East I see a lot of PA, VA, and Chicago, seems like when I go West it's always low on Freight I sat in TX last week for 2 days last week

A "meh" kind of week for me was around $400. A good week was more than $600. Some weeks I would turn out really crappy pay check. And this was at 34 cpm. Now granted I hardly ever burned out my 70 hour clock. I'm not sure what the pay rate for inexperienced drivers is, but I suspect you won't be hitting the big digits any time soon.
