Yesterday must have been log book day.

First guy had only the last 2 days of his previous 8 day log sheets. His reasoning - he had his 34 hr restart a couple of days ago, and did not need to keep those older sheets on him now.:biggrin_25523:

Next guy blows by the scale. When he is brought back this was his reasoning - he just unloaded and was headed to the truck stop on off-duty/driving personal conveyance time and did not have to stop at the scales.:biggrin_25524: Really!?!

Next guy said he did not have to keep a log book because he was "local". He said he was still within 500 miles of the yard.:biggrin_25526:

    Was it a full moon?

If he was smart he would have gone around them like the rest of us who don't like being hassled.

Let's dig in that a little more. Other than the guy being an idiot and we know truck stops are focused at being located near many scales...

Let's say you do have an EOBR driver on his last 15 minutes struggling to get to the truck stop. You tell him to come in an put him over on his 14. Is he expected to take his 10 in your parking lot when he was planning to shower and eat?

Asking me to be legal? No.

Randomly (as in there is no real justification for the stop...nothing obviously wrong with me, the truck, or the load) wasting my time as you go on a phishing expedition trying to find evidence that I may not be legal? Yes.

Remember, my 14 hour clock is ticking and I rarely have that extra time to spend sitting on the side of the road while you "verify" that I am legal when there was absolutely no evidence to the contrary leading up to the stop.

The homies at FMCSA have nothing to do with whether you come in my scale. That is a State regulation and is based on license weight alone. It has nothing to do with commercial operation or non commercial.

I don't know what State that guy is from, but if I turned in a vehicle violation on a driver only inspection it would get bounced back to me immediately. Then I would get a ### chewing from my boss for such a knuckleheaded stunt.

Actually, if I stop a guy and find he is that close on his hours I would not hold him up just for a random inspection.

Now, if I saw that he had some obvious out of service violation, sure. I will hold him up and do an inspection.

Legal?,, now that is a conflict of interest.
Legal to you annoying ppl with lil (blanks) who try to make up for it by hassling ppl that are TRYing to make a living delivering things you need,, is only the fact that you try to ENFORCE laws that some other pencil (blanks) write that have no idea what drivers go through each day to (again) deliver loads that you ppl need.To write and Enforce YOUR laws written by non- driving lil bastages who wouldn't know what a driver goes through is a conflict of interest. YOUR interest being to play GOD and take more money from those already struggling drivers out there just trying to provide for the family,, by delivering the things your family may need.
MOST drivers out there know what their limits are and will stop when they hit it,, BUT do you ENFORCE anything on those idiots 4-wheelers that drive like they own the roads,, most causing others to wreck or causing others to lose their lives? NO YOU DON'T,, so don't preach to anyone about YOUR one sided laws.
