Just some of the stupid things I see

    They never enforce laws on four wheeler's? Wow I guess all those we see on the road are discussing how best to enrage the simple minded into a fit of post rage. My family needs nothing that is delivered in such a manner.

    In such a manner as what?,, Most drivers out there are not idiots and know when they've hit their limits,, to limit every truck driver the same and to enforce those for pure monetary reasons is dictatorship.Why not put limits on 4-wheelers as well?, oh and what about those idiot 4-wheelers that text while driving and cut off truckers causing them to make unsafe maneuvers, or talking on the cell phone or doing their make-up or so on and so on,,yet truck drivers are the lowest form of life on the road as your stating. MOST truck drivers would and are safe drivers until 4-wheelers get around them and cause them to react to their unsafe driving habits, whether the truck driver was driving too long as per law or fresh out of the sleeper.

    And if you'd take the time to research,,, 87% of all truck accidents are initiated by a 4-wheelers unsafe driving habits.

    I sense a little tension there! Take it easy there, watch your blood pressure...

    I drove a truck for years before I put on a badge, so I know what drivers have to put up with out here.

    I will agree with you, most drivers are trying to do their job safely. I have job security because there is always a minority that will push and push and push to make a buck, way past the point of safety.

    The ones that get put out of service in my lot are the ones who drive fatigued, with junk and unsafe equipment, and are a danger to themselves and all the rest of us. You too.

    No, I don't chase 4-wheelers. My full time job is CMV law. I have plenty of help around here to chase the cars.

    You have accepted a career in an industry that has rules of conduct. I am sorry you don't like the rules, but every career has them. I am just the guy asking you to play by the rules.

    Some folks are, and some folks are not.

    I check e-logs. And I do expect the driver to know how to run the machine. You pull me up a graph grid and a summary, everything is fine.

    Now see , we've been trained to hand you the instruction card , hand you the machine and let you have at it. Not in a smarta## way mind you. but you want to see it , heres the tools to get to the info.

    What is the weight amount and does it apply to out of state vehicles?

    The reason I asked this is that in your state the two scales I passed today had the following signs.

    Weigh station.

    Note there is nothing on this that states all vehicles over a certain weight must enter.

    If I am doing an inspection on your vehicle, who runs the controls? You do.

    It is you who opens all the doors, raises the hood, opens the sidebox, flips all the switches, etc. You don't want me doing it, and I don't want to do it either. It is your truck, you run the controls.

    Same thing with the elog. It is your elog, you have been trained to run it, you work with it all day. I will stand outside your truck, look over your shoulder and ask to see your info on the display. All you have to do is punch it up for me. You are the "tool" to get me the information I need to see.

    I can't make entries in your paper log, and I am not supposed to punch buttons on your elog either.

    from FMCSA: "As long as the activity is not in support of a business, you are not operating in commerce." You are still drivin for the company so it is still regulated.

    IMHO, Requiring me to participate in your extortion, I mean inspection is self incrimination. IF I have a violation, it is your job to find it. Why should I help you?

    Furthermore, since Law Enforcement likes to practice what I call "Selective Enforcement", only enforcing some of the laws against some of the law breakers, I will practice "Selective Compliance", I will only obey the some of the laws .

    Let's see if I understood this.
    You were placed OOS for malfunctioning taillights, meaning that that truck could not be moved UNTIL THE DEFECT WAS CORRECTED. You replaced a fuse, IN PLAIN VIEW OF THE LEO, CORRECTING THE OOS DEFECT, AND YOU WERE STILL UNABLE TO MOVE THE TRUCK??????? WTF??????????

    Am I missing something here?

    I am speechless!

    Nope Dave, you got her right on the money. Given the power these officers have is why I keep Open Road. Before she had even left the parking lot I contacted them so I could get a lawyer on it, then I contacted the company to inform them. The thing is that OOS ticket is a fine for me, and an even larger 1 for them as I understand it.

    Drivers like Tazz are so full of their own sanctimonious BS it's no wonder stuff like this flies. He'd be happy with the government telling him to put his head up his own arse, and the only real justification they would need is "because we told you to".
