acctually my broker is the guy i got the truck from so im pretty vested to him. hes looking for loads from the boards that we can make a buck on now that he realizes that im looking for more than what we are sub-contracted to.. i just want to drive my truck and make a buck .. going north for me is not a good synerio at the moment from the weather standpoint. Plus i only have a daycab so basically im kind of limited to say a 500 mile radius so i can hotel it and hopefully load and head back the next day.. the problem is 99% of the loads ive been looking at dont pay even enough to justify that. thanks to the dang non natives that will do loads for basically nothing around. ill keep trying to find something.

the problem there is that my truck is a 98 so i cant go into the ports.. if i could find an out of port yard then maybe.. but i see most of the junk they use and im sure i cant compete with those guys.. i have been trying to find an angle into something around there. but thanks for the thoughts on that..

I hate to say this but if your going to be in Cali then you are gonna have to find a different ride. Something newer and with a small sleeper at least otherwise good luck.

If you don't have enough pre-existing knowledge to figure out who's who and what's what in your area and go after things with a lot more intelligence and planning than you are showing, then you are probably going to fail.
You aren't gonna go far in a day cab either.

we all start somewhere... asking for some advice isnt going to make or break me. and ya its a day cab, i dont plan on going to far with it -
get some business cards and go start handing them out to the local lumber/steel/manufacturing companies to scrounge up some direct loads.

There is a steel mill (or aluminum, I cant remember) in Pittsburgh,CA , have you done anything for them?

Name 3 companies in Sonoma County that load at least 5 flatbed loads per day. Take your time and think about it. I'll bet you still can't do it.
Almost all the businesses in Sonoma County that ship full truckloads of anything are wineries. They use 1. Dry Vans 2. Tankers 3. Containers.
Why do you want to run a day-cab flatbed iin an area that has almost no flatbed freight? Trucking is a customer driven business. You have to conform to their needs. You could park 3000 flatbed trailers at the corner of 101 & 12 and it wouldn't motivate a single company to generate freight for them.
I've been in and/or around the transportation industry my entire life. The number of people that I have seen come and go is too great to count. Hell, the number of people that I have seen come and go on this board is huge- Anybody remember PharmPhail? Not the first to blow off my advice and then disappear and certainly not the last.
If you want to have any chance of success with a day cab in Sonoma you need to pull a dry van or haul dirt. Good luck.Mommas_money_maker Thanks this.
