Well I'm "northeast regional" but I running as far as Arkansas, I don't play around in truck stops, get my 10 and my 15 minutes pretrip hours break and that's it. I plan ahead that I will stop as close to my 11 as I can. I spend at least 30 minutes on my pre trip planning so I can get as much miles as I can, ohh and I got a 100% on time for j.i.t loads that counting bad weather deliveries. All that while my truck being governed at 61 mph. Ohh I dont say no to my dispatch no matter how short are my loads(spent 3 days running crappy loads for a whooping total of 500 miles) then got hit with 2 1200+ miles loads.

Good for you. That explains why u get the miles and i'm sure your dispatcher likes you otherwise he would'nt give you the miles

i agree that's basically with every trucking company. you have to know how to run not just wait around. Driver managers like when you take your loads and run not sit and turn down and wait to see a money maker run. You dont make money waiting the money comes only as the wheels turn.Good post Ruckie and Patty.

I have an offer to go to Werner straight out of school, but all of the posts I have been looking really have me worried.

All I can say to you Werner has treated me good, 2 weeks of 700+ after taxes. All they need from you is to not beech or reject loads . My dispatch called me on monday after being empty " do you want to wait for a long haul or do 2 less than 70 miles run? Since I have no long loads for now" I told him I rather keep moving than sit down for hours end. I ran 2 short loads. He called me rather and told me " if half of my drivers had your mentality we would be a way better company"

I got an offer from Werner also. They seem to offer a pretty good package. That's why all offers stay on the table till I'm on someone's payroll. You never know what might happen, and that's the only offer I might end up with.

Makes me think of a saying I read not long ago. "Take care of your own grass and you wont have to worry about how green it is on the other side." (or somethin like that...)

Ruckie. I believe that if you don't have the "drive" pardon the pun!! lol:biggrin_2559:... And all you do is WAIT for a good load than your DM will frown upon you for that. Work is WORK... And you/we/I are hired( soon I finish school in April and have 5 Pre-hires) to Drive, whether long distance or short.. My motto is so you want to drive for a living.. so DRIVE:biggrin_25510:

Trust me I know a hand full of drivers that will not take a load of less than 300 miles load
