    Ok today I was walking around the petro here in W Memphis and thought that a thread about walking could be useful for driver fitness. I been putting off getting serious about dropping some weight. I need to drop about 30 lbs that would get me too 5'11" and 215lbs. So if anyone walks or runs in a truck stop let us know what truckstops and what the distance is around. Yesterday I did Knoxville petro than drove around it was a Half mile. I will post later what the distance around this petro is.

    Way to go! I never do laps around the truck stops, myself, I prefer to get away from the trucks and just head off down a road somewhere, but whatever works to get a trucker moving is a good thing.

    When you have achieved a basic level of fitness, you may want to consider adding wrist weights. It'll burn a few more calories while you are walking.

    Right there with ya..not walking around the truck stop but dropping some weight.
    Doc gave me a simple formula...PBR..not the beer :D
    Cut
    P = Potatoes, Pasta, Pastries
    B = Bread
    R= Rice

    Also said take your normal portion on the plate and eat only half of it..that helps in truck stops where you can't control portion size.

    I have put a hurtin on some salad bars recently.:D

    This combined with 30 minutes of walking a day has resulted in 12lbs dropped in 3 weeks :D

    Once a week now I have a reasonable portion of a PB or R..

    Good luck to ya..us fat guys gotta stick together!

    So no carbs basically. He should have said no refined sugars either if you really want to avoid the bad stuff. Good job on the weight loss!

    Yep, basically no carbs.
    Will work on sugar later. These are life style changes and trying to take em all on at once would be overwhelming and probably cause me to just give up again.
    One step at a time :D

    I agree with you on the one step at a time thing, but you do realize sugar is a carb, right? I would argue sugar is more harmful than potatoes or pasta. Not that I am smarter than your doctor, of course! :biggrin_2559:
