i know, i cant believe the way some people spend money. Yep, i'll get my money one way or another. I know about that drop to 30 a barrell, that was irrational stock market behavior, if you recall, it didnt stay at 30 very long. Anything can happen but i dont see oil hitting less than 90 for a few years. Energy demands keep growing and growing and the alternatives arent even cheaper than oil right now, much less the actual retrofit to ween the world off oil. Its here to stay for a long time and unlike natural gas, i dont see a surplus build up coming of oil. You could be right and i am wrong but i think it favors my side.

Youre right though, i'm not going to make a career of this, just gonna make my money and get out, i figure i got a year and a half no matter what i get paid and i'm out.

I do not see it dipping below $60. a barrel for a very long time!! Paulcouto is right about the stock markets speculating like they did in the past!! Opec will change as we become less dependant on foreign oil reserves. If I am wrong I will eat my laptop!! Salt and pepper ready!!

lol good ol gisquid, i really think in big lake, its secure for the next few years, they say ten years, but i figure 2 years should be no problem. They got a few oil companies like devon and aproach or pioneer that got 700 wells they plan on drilling and theres a bunch of other oil companies too, that means fracking and flow backs and produced water and disposal water, even if they stop drilling, the wells will need servicing and i'll be ###### if i'm one of the guys who gets run off IF they start cutting people.

I feel very confident things arent going to slow down, as a matter of fact, big lake is going to be booming. I feel confident because people, smartly, are still worried about a slow down. When i see EVERYONE saying it cant slow down, thats when i'll get nervous......but by that time i'll be in the woods makin friends with the skunks and stuff.

That is soo cool, Mr. Ranger!! Getting my picknic baskets?? Eh, Boo Boo?? Are you planning to work for the forest service when you get out of the oilfields?? I always wanted to work in the fisheries!! Where I grew up in Kernville, CA. There is a hatchery there and I used to volunteer most of my time there!! I loved it!! Doesn't pay well but for a retiree its perfect!!

I dont know gisquid, clinton, bush and obama have put me in a state of shock, i couldnt imagine being able to land a job at mcdonalds, much less a hatchery or god forbid a FOREST RANGER, i got it stuck in my head that there will be 500k people applying for those jobs, so the only thing i got is the oil field because one thing you can count on as time goes by, people who apply for the hatchery and ranger jobs are the ####### who wont come near the oil field.

What was the saying i saw the other day?????? oh yeah, it was on a muhamad ali documentary, it was a scene at larry holmes boxing gym, it was beautiful, it was a banner on the wall and it said:

HARD WORK AINT EASY BUT ITS FAIR

    lol!!!!!!! isnt that brilliant?

When i decide to take a break and come down from the mountains, i'll come to the oil field.

Not my first choice, but saving cash certainly is:biggrin_2559: As long as they got wifi there, then I'm golden....their wifi, and my cooler, airbed, coleman stove, and the fine TX weather, well that's a recipe for one helluva bivouac!

I am in the Air Force as an equipment operator and have some experience driving truck and all types of heavy equipment. I'm going to a truck driving school in June and hope to work in the oil fields in either ND or Texas. Would they hire me as a new driver with no experience? Do any of you have connections or know a website that i could go to for one of those jobs? Thank you.

I saw an add yesterday for cudd energy out in west Texas. They said they needed equipment operators with a cdl or the ability to obtain one. Which usually means they'll teach you to drive. You shouldn't have any trouble finding someone to hire you with your experience. I would recomend not paulying for school but finding a company that will teach you.
