    Hi Everyone,

I am a senior at ASU's Walter Cronkite and am writing a piece on Outlaw Truckers for a magazine writing class. I need to talk to Outlaw Truckers past and present to write about the culture and life of the Outlaw. It would be best to call you over the phone but I am willing to go through email too. I have already talked to another Outlaw Trucker who is retired and he told me wonderful, exciting stories I'm sure most of you have as well. If you are interested, please respond to this thread so we can get the ball rolling ASAP. I will not take long to ask a few questions. Thanks in advance!

I'm assuming this is a post intended to be funny, and what would be funny is to see the "outlaw" drivers who actually respond to this post as being serious.

But just in case ... for the record, "the EOBR implementation has done away with all outlaw drivers. Those who have not yet been treated to EOBR are scared ####-less and don't dare run illegal." That is all.

With the regulations and penalties as they are there aren't very many if any at all "Outlaw Truckers" left. There are some people that still fudge the numbers and do some things less than legal but nothing like the past. Those days are dead and gone and I think most of us who are tired of the ever more increasing burden of regulation would prefer they stay that way. Not that all of us don't dream of it but the hard fact is if the regulations continue the way they are lots of owners and businesses will have a hard time even staying in business. So you indeed might find some answers from the old timers and their stories are indeed amazing but not to many newer stories are all that grand after hearing about the old days.

I think Bullhauler's wife banned all the outlaws here .Maybe you should contact A&E and ask how to contact their cancelled Shippers War haulers.

Truckers are among the world's greatest liars and you've just invited us to give you our best stories.

Some of us are worried that ordinary people (who believe all truckers are criminals and outlaws) are going to believe some of those stories. Couldn't you just do a piece on trucker heroes instead?

Maybe you should define "outlaw trucker."

Some of these guys are just plain lousy at running a business. A lot of these guys run uninsured trucks... does that make them an outlaw or an a-hole?

If they ran into you while sleep-deprived, and couldn't cover your medical bills, what would you call them?
