Do they have to pay you for mandatory safety meetings? What about training?

No pay here for meetings. Only paid by the loads I haul, that's it.

Bureaucratic bullcrap mandated by insurance companies that no one learns anything from.....or it's where you employer makes empty promises to maintain equipment better to reduce the chance of being ticketed. Sounds good until you try to get something fixed and its always at the bottom of the list.

If your not getting paid for a mandatory safety meeting I would runaway fast. If they would screw you like that with you knowing about it imagine how hard there screwing you behind your back. Just make sure you find another job before you runaway.

Although I would generally agree with you....I highly doubt I would find another job with the hourly wage and full company paid benefits package I am currently getting elsewhere....you have to take some bad with the good.

Well, it would SEEM TO ME, like a person who is paid by the hour, is on company time during these meetings and should be paid for them. But if you are on mileage, or trip basis, then you are probably going to be attending them for free.

If the company can find a way to screw you for a nickle, they WILL.:biggrin_25513:

True - if I was a company owner, I wouldn't screw drivers for less than a dime.

this the way see it, this what i tell my dispacther if i attend one there safety meetings, and if i dont get paid for it , thats fine i tell em, but give me a nice run too offset my time in the safety room then. i think that would fair trade off.
